Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the abbreviation of chronic obstructive pneumonia. generally, people are easy to be associated with or confused with chronic bronchitis. In fact, there are two series of COPD, one is chronic bronchitis, the other is emphysema, because they are all airway obstruction. But more precisely, these two series tend to be like different periods in the development of COPD. However, the different periods of these two series are not fixed and changeable.

In other words, chronic bronchitis will evolve into emphysema, and then appear the same disease phenomenon, that is, the symptoms of the two diseases exist at the same time. After the onset of emphysema, it is also easy to develop into chronic bronchitis, although the probability is very low, it does not mean that it does not exist. After the combination of the two diseases, they have entered the late stage of the development of COPD. Therefore, the two types of COPD, that is, two series, are alternating in terms of symptoms and pulmonary function.

The primary disease of chronic bronchitis is bronchiolitis, that is, from the small airway obstruction, stenosis, collapse, the emergence of obstructive ventilation disorder, the formation of bronchitis, the development of severe obstruction, the formation of emphysema, into the later stage of COPD. Others develop emphysema for tuberculosis and other lung diseases, followed by extensive chronic obstructive bronchitis, which becomes another form of COPD.

In terms of stages, it refers to the acute exacerbation and stable period, in the whole process of the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, whether the primary disease is chronic bronchitis or emphysema, and then merge into the later stage of the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, there will be multiple acute exacerbations and stable periods in different stages, and in terms of symptoms, it begins with mild cough and expectoration, and develops to the aggravation period of shortness of breath and wheezing. There will also be critical periods such as respiratory failure, hemoptysis and coma.
