I'm afraid many people don't know what the letters GMO mean, but if they are translated into Chinese, everyone will know. To be exact, GMO is the acronym of "genetically modified organisms (genetically modified organism)". The reason why people know everything about genetically modified organisms is that, after all, everyone's needs are involved as food. In recent years, the topic of genetically modified genes has also caused widespread controversy.

As far as China is concerned, the relevant situation of GM and the scope of GM research and commercialization in China have also been introduced many times. To sum up, the domestic commercialized crops are cotton and papaya, while the imported GM crops are mainly corn and soybeans. Therefore, only corn and soybean related products can be involved in the use of genetically modified feed.

Everyone should be no stranger to soybeans. China's imports in recent years can be said to be increasing year by year. In 2017, imports reached 95.53 million tons, while domestic soybeans only more than 13 million tons, domestic soybean demand is strong. Domestic soybeans are far from satisfying the domestic market.

What we want to say here is that, in terms of the properties of imported soybeans, there are almost no non-GM soybeans, because the proportion of imported non-GM soybeans is very low. Genetically modified soybeans have been widely popularized in the United States, Brazil and Argentina. In China, there is also a clear description of the use of genetically modified soybeans: oil extraction and soybean meal. The reason for the emergence of a large number of imported soybeans in China is also because the demand for feeding ways in our country is too large, and with the improvement of our people's living standards, there is an increasing demand for meat products. As a result, most of the imported soybeans are used to crush soybean meal. And soybean meal is also the most involved with GMO on the way to feed.

In addition, corn is not approved for commercial cultivation in China, but this does not hinder the import of genetically modified corn from abroad. Although the import of corn is small, it is more than 3.6 million tons in 2017, which can be said to be a drop in the bucket compared to the total corn production of our country. However, most of the imported corn is used for industrial purposes, but it can be seen in the feed industry.

To sum up, the GMO that can basically be implicated with feed in China is the above corn and soybean. I hope it will be helpful to you.
