An illegal industrial waste disposal plant in Daliao, Kaohsiung, has been reported by the public to be suspected of mixing dust collected from an electric arc furnace in the ballast over the past five years, causing a serious impact on the local environment. After sampling and testing by the Environmental Action Group of Tainan Society University, it was found that the content of zinc in the mixed grains was as high as 60000ppm, which was 30 times higher than the soil heavy metal control standard 2000ppm. The Environmental Action team of Tainan Social University even pointed out that the front line to the west of the site is a duck farm, and if ducks are only contaminated and enter the market, it is likely to trigger a food safety crisis.
