Many young trees are planted in pots by us, but as the trees grow taller, some are no longer suitable for indoor cultivation, and some become less beautiful after they grow tall. at this time, we have to choose whether to cut them down or transplant them outdoors. As a matter of fact, there is a way to have the best of both worlds.

The best of both worlds is high-pressure pruning. High-pressure pruning can not only reduce plant height, but also obtain a new plant, which is simply not too beautiful, and the success rate of high-pressure cutting is much higher than that of defending and planting. It is the best way to solve the problem of potted plants being too high. Let's take rose as an example to teach you how to do high-pressure pruning.

1. First of all, ring-cut the bark at the height you want to keep, that is, peel off a circle of bark, pay attention to control when cutting, try not to hurt the xylem as far as possible, the length of the bark is recommended to be about 3cm, if you cut too little, it is not easy to take root.

2. Prepare a disposable cup, preferably transparent, so that you can see the rooting situation. Make a hole at the bottom of the cup, just enough to pass through the size of the branch, then cut one side of the cup and put it in a ring-cut position. Then tape the part that has just been cut.

3. Use rope, wire and other methods to fix the cup, then add vermiculite or soil to the cup and pour it through with water. The soil has a stronger water retention capacity, and it can be put on the basin directly when transplanting, but the chance of infection with soil wound is higher. In order to reduce the chance of wound infection, the first watering can be irrigated with germicidal solution such as chlorothalonil.

4. After that, as long as you keep the vermiculite or soil moist, you can wait quietly. If you pinch off the bud directly at this time to save nutrients, it will begin to take root after about 15 days, and the root system will be full of cups after 1 month. At this time, you can cut off this section and transplant it. It is difficult not to live with so many roots.

In this way, we not only solved the problem of too high plants, but also got a new rose, killing two birds with one stone. This method can not only be used in rose, but can be used in many potted plants, but the rooting speed of different plants is different. generally, potted plants can be transplanted within a month after high pressure, while trees like pine and cypress, which grow slowly, may take half a year.
