I. conditions and timing of plant division propagation

Ramets are usually grown after two or three years after planting, when the orchid plants have grown in the whole basin; there are also ramets with more than 4 conjoined orchid clusters in order to increase the germination rate or rapidly increase the number of breeding varieties; and in order to prevent the degeneration of buds, only one old and one new conjoined parent cluster was divided.

The propagation of orchids can be carried out all the year round, but in order to ensure the survival rate, the temperature is between 12 ℃ and 30 ℃. According to its physiological characteristics, the best time is at the end of flowering. Because the vegetative growth of the orchid plant is tired at this time, not only the new bud has not germinated, but also the growth point of the bud has not yet expanded, and the ramet is not easy to cause accidental injury. At the same time, the flowering period is over, generally there will be no more flower buds, there is no problem of damage to flower buds due to ramets. In addition, through ramet, it can also promote the activity of vegetative growth and improve the resilience and germination rate of orchid plants.

II. Methods and procedures of plant division and propagation

1. Seedling emergence: for the basin orchid that has grown full of pots, do not pull it out forcefully, otherwise it will damage the orchid plant too much, or pull out the leaves of the plant, or cut off too many roots. Therefore, we should not hesitate to break the orchid pot and take out the orchid seedlings. Then shake off the matrix in the root cluster and cluster it. If the matrix is hardened or sticky, it can only be washed away with water before clustering. If it is an orchid that has not yet grown in the basin, you can remove the basin surface matrix with your fingers, slap the periphery of the orchid basin a few times, then use a wooden stick to loosen the matrix from the middle hole in the bottom of the basin, then hold the edge of the basin with both hands, hold the orchid pot with your fingers, and shake the orchid basin half-hanging handstand, you can pour out the orchid seedlings.

2. Root washing and root drying: root washing is best washed with tap water. Soaking is easy to infect bacteria. After washing off the matrix, spread the orchid plant in the sun, cover the orchid leaf with a sunshade net, and turn the orchid root in the sun for two or three hours to make the orchid root soft and tough to facilitate root uprooting.

3. Ramet: because orchid plants are fond of clustering, they should be separated according to their habits by the conjoined bodies of the second or third generations. In order to improve the germination rate, the new and old plants of the second or third generation can be semi-separated. So that it is not only separated, but also not broken; it not only forces it to be semi-independent, but also does not interfere with its habits, so as to promote its growth and improve the germination rate.

4. Cleaning and disinfection: when carrying out ramet reproduction, cut off decaying leaf sheaths and petioles, pine planing diseased leaves and rotten roots, and their wounds can be sterilized with carbendazim and topiramate fungicides. After all the orchid plants have been treated, soak and disinfect them according to the routine, then wash them and dry them, and then they can be planted.

III. Planting and management of ramet propagation

For isolated orchid plants, two points should be paid attention to when planting in pots:

1. Do not let the matrix containing base fertilizer near the wound of the orchid plant to prevent festering. The effective way is to use thick paper or thin plastic board to make a sleeve two or three centimeters smaller than the diameter of the orchid pot, wrap the stem root and place it in the flowerpot, first fill the matrix without base fertilizer in the sleeve, and then fill the fattened matrix outside the sleeve, and then carefully take out the sleeve.

2. Make all the new plants face the edge of the basin, leaving enough room for their development. The management of the new plant after potting is mainly as follows: during the period of low temperature, it is arched and sealed with plastic film to keep the relative constant temperature around the orchid plant, and during the period of high temperature, the ventilation and cooling are strengthened so that the temperature of the greenhouse does not exceed 28 ℃. In addition, when the substrate is not dry, do not water, when the new root does not grow, absolutely can not fertilize, in case of rotting root. But foliar fertilizer or root promoter can be sprayed once a week. Foliar fertilizer and root promoter can also be expanded and diluted several times and sprayed the next day. When watering orchid plants, root promoters can be used at the same time.
