In order to make flowers bloom timely according to the needs of people, it is necessary to be familiar with the requirements of environmental conditions of all kinds of flowers in different growth and development stages on the basis of deeply mastering the law of growth and development of all kinds of flowers. There are four technical measures commonly used to regulate flowering by adjusting environmental conditions and the growth process of flowers.

Adjusting florescence: sunshine treatment

(1) short-day treatment: this method can make short-day flowers blossom in advance, such as chrysanthemum, poinsettia, leaf flower, crab claw orchid and so on. After the robust growth of this kind of flowers, shading treatment is used, and black cloth (or black plastic) is often used to cover the whole plant tightly, giving only 8 hours of light every day. After this treatment, it can blossom in advance after 50 days.

(2) long sunshine treatment: by using long sunshine treatment, the flowering period of short-day plants can be delayed. If chrysanthemums are supplemented with light every day before flower bud differentiation (late August), so that the time of seeing light every day is more than 12 hours, flower bud formation can be inhibited and flowering can be delayed; on the contrary, the method of adding light can also be adopted to make long-sunshine flowers bloom ahead of time.

Regulating florescence: temperature treatment

(1) heating treatment: for flowers that need to form flower buds at higher temperatures, such as rose, jasmine, Milan, melon and leaf chrysanthemum, paulownia, Catharanthus roseus, geranium, etc., as long as they are heated in advance, they can bloom as scheduled when they need to bloom. For flowers that are dormant and overwintering but whose flower buds have been formed, such as plum blossom, peony, green peach, Yingchun, etc., after experiencing frost and snow, move indoors, gradually heat up, keep the room temperature at 5-25 degrees, and often spray, they can blossom ahead of time.

(2) low temperature treatment: flowers mostly used for dormant overwintering, such as rhododendron, plum blossom, green peach, etc., if they are not allowed to blossom in spring, they can be put in a cold cellar of 2-5 degrees and watered about once a month, which can postpone the flowering period to "May Day International Labour Day" or "National Day".

Regulating florescence: chemical treatment

The treatment of flowers with plant growth regulators can break dormancy, promote flower bud differentiation and blossom ahead of time. For example, 200 million 400 mg / kg gibberellin is effective in breaking dormancy by treating eight immortal flowers, rhododendrons and cherry blossoms.

Regulating florescence: cultivation measures

The flowering period can be controlled by using cultivation measures such as sowing, cutting, pruning and coring in different periods. For example, Gladiolus can have flowers in four seasons by using the method of planting by stages, and the flowering period can be delayed by more than 20 days by coring measures. Dahlia takes about 120 days from cutting to flowering, and the flowering period can be adjusted by using staged cuttings. Here are two ways to adjust the flowering stage by using cultivation measures:

The main results are as follows: (1) controlling the sowing time: it takes a certain time for plants to grow to blossom, and it is a better method to control the flowering time by controlling the sowing time. If a string of red winter is sown indoors to ensure a certain temperature, it can blossom in spring. However, for some plants whose flowering is controlled by the length of sunlight, the early or delayed sowing time is often affected by the length of sunshine, and the plant has flowered before it matures. For example, magenta, even if the plant is very small, it will blossom as long as it is given a short day.

(2) pruning: during the period of flower growth, measures such as coring and bud thinning can be used to control the formation of flower buds so as to postpone flowering. If the marigold constantly pick the heart, inhibit the formation of buds, can postpone the florescence. Cutting off the residual flowers of flowering marigold and strengthening the management of water and fertilizer will sprout new branches and prolong the flowering period. For some flowers that are not suitable for heart-picking, such as cockscomb, the method of controlling the sowing time can be used to achieve the goal.
