Rose culture series: the 82nd article

People who often read blue demon articles should have read blue demon articles about rose fertilization. Chinese rose is one of the most fat-loving flowers because it blossoms more and has a long flowering period.

Not long ago, readers of the Sky Blue Demon asked this question:

Can I apply fertilizer during the flowering of Chinese rose?

Coincidentally, a flower friend in the reader group asked a similar question:

The rose flower bud shows color, can you still fertilize it?

Perhaps you also have the same doubt, today the blue demon will briefly talk about the fertilization methods of rose germination, pre-flowering, mid-flowering and post-flowering.

Fertilization methods of Chinese rose in different periods:

For rose flowers at different stages, the demand for fertilizer and water is different, and we should also be different when applying fertilizer. Below, the blue demon divides the rose into three stages for analysis.

1. The flower bud stage (pre-flowering) the flower bud stage should begin a week before the rose bud appears, but many flower friends are not ready to grasp the time when the rose bud appears, so the blue demon starts from the bud appearance until the bud shows color. this period of time is called the flower bud stage.

When the rose is pregnant with flower buds, it needs to consume a lot of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, so when applying fertilizer, we should mainly apply fertilizer with high content of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate, Huaduoduo No.2 and so on.

Note:

Many flower friends will use the method of foliar topdressing. Blue demon reminds us here that it is best not to use foliar topdressing after flower bracts show color in that month, but a high concentration will directly lead to burns in rose buds.

2, flowering period (mid-flowering) should rose be fertilized during flowering? This seems to be a question that many people want to ask.

There is a saying that fertilization at flowering stage can easily lead to premature senescence and early blooming failure.

As a result, many people stop fertilizing during flowering. But the blue demon sees it differently.

Let's not argue whether fertilization at flowering stage will cause premature senescence of flowers, but there are two facts that we should recognize:

1. When flowers bloom, they need to consume a lot of nutrients. 2. the gestation of flower buds needs to consume a lot of nutrients.

Rose is often long, multiple buds on a branch, not thinning buds generally the largest bud opens first, and then the small bud opens.

The flowers that bloom first in the flowering stage consume a lot of nutrients, and if they are not replenished in time, the buds still in their gestation are likely to die due to lack of nutrition.

I believe that our flower friends, have encountered, the rose side flowering while the small bud yellow shedding, which is mostly lack of fat.

What kind of fertilizer should be applied at flowering stage? In the flowering stage, we should also give priority to phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and remember to apply nitrogen fertilizer partially, otherwise it is likely to cause bud extinction due to too much nitrogen fertilizer. It should also be noted that foliar topdressing should be avoided when topdressing, and root irrigation can be used.

3. Germination period (after anthesis) the germination period referred to by the blue demon refers to the period from pruning after the rose flower to the time when the new bud has not yet germinated or has just germinated to the appearance of the bud.

At this stage, rose is mainly the growth of branches, and there is a high demand for nitrogen fertilizer. At this time, we can use fertilizer with high nitrogen content, or use compound water-soluble fertilizer with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium at 1:1:1 for topdressing.
