Crape myrtle is very beautiful and has a high ornamental value, so many people will raise a pot at home. It blossoms in a variety of super beautiful flowers. If you want to breed crape myrtle, there are many ways, such as grafting, cutting, striping, cutting is a very common method. Today, I would like to share with you about my usual method of cutting crape myrtle.

Crape myrtle can be cut with hardwood cuttings or softwood cuttings, both of which can survive. Therefore, friends who like cutting can give it a try.

Hardwood cuttings of crape myrtle

The so-called hardwood cutting is actually cutting with older branches. Hardwood cutting is generally carried out in March-April. At this time, the branches have not yet sprouted. Choose a long and healthy branch and cut it off about 15 centimeters. Cut it into a loose, breathable and well-drained soil, then pour the water thoroughly, cover the film and wait for rooting and germination.

When the new crape myrtle seedlings grow to about 15-20 cm, remove the covered film, properly shade, and then thick and properly watered and maintained.

Crape myrtle tender wood cuttage

The cuttings of crape myrtle twigs are usually carried out from July to August. At this time, crape myrtle flowers grow vigorously, and it is relatively easy to find healthy shoots from the plant. Pruning the twigs to a length of 8-10 cm, it is best to leave 2-3 leaves on the top. Then insert the prepared shoots into the prepared soil, water thoroughly, shade treatment.

Probably in less than 20 days a month or so cuttings can take root, this time appropriate shade, watering, and then normal maintenance on it.
