The process of Cuttage Propagation of Meiyan

Meiyan will dormant in low temperatures in winter. My method is to enter the moisturizing box and ignore it. There will be new buds in spring. Below is a new sprout, and several small buds can be seen.

Figure 1

Cut off the small lateral buds, cut the larger lateral buds near the "small potato", remove part of the lower leaves and leave the top 4-2 leaves. (figure 2: lateral buds figure 3: after removing excess leaves)

Figure 3

Water moss cutting, three-in-one (peat, perlite, vermiculite) cutting or water cutting can be used for cuttings. I like water moss best because most of my cutting backup time is concentrated in spring and summer (May-September). Under relatively hot conditions, the advantage of breathable and clean water moss ensures the survival rate of cuttings.

Below I only take water moss to explain, the three-in-one ratio I suggest peat ∶ perlite ∶ vermiculite = 1 ∶ 1 ∶ 0.5 (my environment is a closed balcony bright light without direct light, if it is different from my cultivation environment, please choose the ratio carefully). The water moss should be scalded with boiling water for disinfection, and after fully soaking, pinch the water properly for use (figure 4 is dry water moss).

Figure 4

Then insert the small lateral buds into the water moss, write the label, and put them into a moisturizing box to moisturize. If the "little potato" is rotten, cut off the top branches that are not black, and only two small leaves can survive with water moss cuttings. Isn't it easy? When the temperature is suitable (about 20 ℃), a small "potato" will form in the branch wound after a month or two.

Figure 5

In general, after about half a year, I will check how big the "small potatoes" have grown in the cutting. Potatoes that are too small are recommended to continue water moss culture and give appropriate thin fertilizer (nitrogen ∶ phosphorus ∶ potassium = 1 ∶ 1 ∶ 1). If the "little potatoes" are 1cm in diameter and the plants are healthy, then let's move them into a three-in-one normal growth medium.

The Meiyan in the picture has been in the water moss for almost a year. Touching the "little potato" is not small. In order to make her blossom better, she quickly moves into the three-in-one.

Figure 6

It should be noted that the water moss must be removed as clean as possible, and the fibrous root can be removed completely. when removing, be careful not to hurt the branches, the branches of the rock are relatively fragile, if the branches are broken and there is no new bud point to sprout, the "small potato" will be completely dormant and can only be re-cut.

Figure 7

In general, it is best to leave only one or two main stems on the ball to reduce the consumption of nutrients and let it grow as soon as possible. It is recommended to plant it in a relatively small flowerpot. For 1 cm "small potato", it is appropriate to use a small test cup with a caliber of 5 cm or a small flowerpot with a diameter of 6 cm, with a maximum of no more than 7 cm. People who grow flowers know that the tide soil is dry. The ball should not be completely buried in the soil, which is not conducive to the germination of lateral buds. In my experience, it is usually best to expose 1/5 or 1/6 of the ball to the surface of the soil. Everything is ready, put into the moisturizing box in high humidity environment for about 2 to 4 weeks can be normal breeding waiting for flowering.

By the same token, to change the soil for the rock, we should also try to remove the old soil as far as possible, protect the balls and branches, put it into the new soil, and keep it moist for 2 to 4 weeks.
