Under the microscope, these common vegetables and fruits have changed greatly. Can you still recognize them?

Strawberry

This strawberry is often planted in the garden. Every "hair" is clearly visible. Every dot is the fruit of strawberries. The water-rich berries we eat are the part of the strawberry receptacle that gets bigger after spreading pollen.

Broccoli

This photo of broccoli shows a cluster of immature buds. The dots above are stomata for breathing.

Peach

The surface of the peach feels very soft because of thousands of small hairs in the photo. Most of these fine hairs are very short. In this picture, the stomata are dyed red.

Mulberry

People have been planting mulberries since ancient times, which may have originated in China. Each individual small fruit is shown in this photo. The hairy part is the stigma.

Leek

This is the cross section of the leek leaves. The sponge-like structure is mesophyll. The leaves in this picture are actually only 1.2 millimeters thick.

Potato

This photo shows three buds sprouting from the surface of the potato. The longest bud is 4 mm long.

Polyglandular raspberry

This plant is a close relative of blueberries and raspberries and grows in North China, South Korea and Japan. Interestingly, the plant, from top to bottom, including the sepals that hold the fruit, is covered with a thick layer of fluff.

Cauliflower

The cauliflower we eat is actually its immature flower, which is the part shown in the photo.
