With the continuous improvement of people's material living standard and spiritual pursuit, green plants gradually enter more and more families. After trying the joy of breeding foliage plants and flowering plants, some flower friends began to try to cultivate potted oranges, lemons and other fruit plants. Especially potted orange trees, because of their golden fruit, green leaves and more and more flower farmers love. However, in the breeding process, there will always be more flowering and less fruit or serious fruit drop and no fruit due to various reasons. In fact, this is related to whether the soil ratio is reasonable, whether the light, water and fertilizer are sufficient and whether there is timely pruning.

Potted orange trees due to the limited pot soil, if insufficient nutrients, will inevitably affect the growth of orange trees demand. Orange trees like loose and fertile slightly acidic soil. Orange trees just bought from the flower market in spring mostly carry black nutrition bowls and need to be replaced immediately. Family breeding orange trees should choose a slightly larger pot, with soil suggested to be decayed leaf soil (or pine needle soil), garden soil and river sand (or pearlite) in a ratio of 3:2:1. In order to ensure sufficient nutrient supply of orange trees in the growth period, proper compound fertilizer or decomposed chicken manure and sheep manure can be added to the bottom of the pot before putting them in the pot. After pouring water on the basin, put it in a cool and ventilated place for a week to maintain normally.

Orange trees are more tolerant of shade, but they also like adequate light. It is difficult for orange trees to blossom and bear fruit in a long-term shade or insufficient light environment. If orange trees want to bear more flowers and fruits, timely pruning is indispensable. Pruning is mainly to regulate the reasonable distribution of tree nutrients, so that limited nutrients can be concentrated to supply buds and leaves, and promote flower bud differentiation. It is generally suggested that a heavy pruning should be carried out before the spring shoots germinate, cutting off dead branches, dead leaves, inward branches, cross branches and weak branches. For strong branches weak shear, leave 2~3 strong bud points, promote each branch multiple robust spring shoots. After waiting for spring shoot to grow neat, in order to control its excessive length, can carry on light shear, shear 3~4 of branch shoot. After growing out of the new shoots have 5~8 nodes on the top, mainly in order to induce more summer shoots.

The fertilizer and water management of potted orange trees is also the key to determining the number of fruits. Due to the limited nutrition in the pot soil, nitrogen fertilizer should be applied before germination in spring to promote the growth of branches and leaves. At the same time, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer can be used to promote flower bud differentiation. The decomposed cake fertilizer water can be used to irrigate its roots, or the potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution of 1:1000 can be sprayed once every 7 days until flower bud formation and flowering. Then apply thin liquid fertilizer once a week to ensure adequate nutrient supply. After autumn, gradually reduce the frequency of fertilization, lest the plant nutrition is too abundant and produce autumn shoots, these autumn shoots will compete with the fruit for nutrients and cause fruit drop.

If you want orange trees to bear more fruits, you should thin out some buds in time after flowering. It is generally recommended to keep 3~8 buds per branch. After fruit hanging, fruit thinning should be carried out in time. The number of fruits retained can be determined according to the plant type, so as to avoid a large number of fruit drops caused by weak fruits competing for nutrients or insufficient plant nutrients. Sufficient water supply should be given during the vigorous growth period of potted orange branches and leaves and before flowering. After flowering and fruiting, the watering frequency should be gradually reduced to prevent the accumulation of water in the pot from causing flower and fruit drop.
