The freshwater courtyard is a townhouse garden with an area of only 40 square meters, and the boundary of the south wall is an irregular curve. Although the area is small, in the scheme design, we basically meet various functional requirements, such as outdoor living room, ordinary gallery rack, true fire fireplace, fountain pool, garden vegetable plot, flower bed, double bench, water hydrant and other courtyard elements.

Because the main body of the architecture of Tamsui is an European pastoral style, the style of the garden is also established as an European rural courtyard. In the design layout, we use a 45-degree angle, axisymmetric form, the whole scheme is more lively in the composition, but also increases the hierarchical sense of space, and greatly improves the visual perception of the garden area.

In the process of building, we have a tacit understanding with Tamsui. There was originally a red maple, an orange tree and a camellia in the garden. considering the effect of the garden, we transplanted all these large plants to the fence near the boundary, and planted flowering plants such as rattan moon and hydrangea on the east and west sides of the fence and fence.

In order to form the green wall effect, we designed the south courtyard wall as a country low wall made of natural stone, and climbed the climbing plants such as windmill jasmine, Angela, Parthenocissus and so on.

Not only that, we also use vegetable colors in the middle of the garden to create a landscape and design a flat hexagonal family garden.

Personally, I am satisfied with the layout of the garden. Although the sparrow is small and full of internal organs, it is very difficult to integrate so many elements into a space of 40 square meters. When the garden was finished, it didn't look messy at all, only an eye full of exquisite appearance. What is more surprising is that the garden looks bigger.

Today, the presentation effect of the garden is completely in line with expectations, of course, it is inseparable from the trust and support of the owners, so I am very grateful for the cooperation of the fresh water to our scheme design, successfully turning the two-dimensional design into a three-dimensional reality, and the use of materials is also 100% in line with the requirements of the design.

In fact, if you want to grow the family garden more cleanly in the future, I suggest that the four areas of the garden should plant single, low varieties, such as vanilla plants. Remember to plant indiscriminately, slices of green vegetables, lettuce, basil, etc., which will help to create color blocks.

Throughout the construction process, I have not been to the site, but use the online network to communicate, and customers will consult in time when they encounter difficulties. This process makes Tamsui become a master of gardening, and of course, it also makes us good friends.

In fact, the first step in garden design is not how to layout and how to match plants, but to think about a way of life that customers can accept and like. The appreciative courtyard will get tired of it sooner or later, and the long-term heavy gardening work will overwhelm the garden owners, resulting in a loss of enthusiasm and waste of the garden.

Therefore, my design idea for the garden is: the garden should be life-oriented and practical, so that the garden owner can live, work, socialize and fall in love with garden life.

When my new house was completed in early 2014, looking out of the window at a barren grass, I realized for the first time that I needed a small green yard with flowers in full bloom. My family said that I have always been single-minded, once the idea rises, it is difficult to stop, so I also embarked on a long road to building a garden.

From design to completion, the freshwater courtyard was basically completed in two months, and the overall hard installation cost was about 30,000. For the design requirements, I hope that the function should have both the privacy of life and the functionality of the outdoor living room. Therefore, in the layout, we changed the outermost isolation zone from the original hedge to the stone wall. When the Parthenocissus and ruoshi climbed all over the stone wall, the whole courtyard was full of years and mottled feeling, which properly ensured the private life.

At the entrance to the courtyard is a retro arch, covered with rivets that tell a long story, covered with European moon, and fascinating with flowers when spring comes. Inside the courtyard, there are ordinary verandah, real fire fireplace, fountain pool, garden vegetable plot, flower bed and bench for two, which ensures the function of meeting guests and making friends, and there is enough space for us to toss about.

For plant configuration, I have been groping, early is according to preferences, continue to buy all kinds of, a little messy; two years later began to comb, using subtraction to find suitable plants for the courtyard. In order to quickly create a green fence, choose Parthenocissus, the stone wall has an obvious effect in a year; in order to create evergreen seasons, choose Luoshi and Muxiang. Ouyue Angela at the arch is the earliest plant that has now taken shape; the edge of the fence is dominated by hydrangea and rattan moon, and the vegetable fields in the middle are changed to low vegetables, using vegetable colors to create a landscape.

Skillful use of material DIY

The shape of the fireplace arch made it difficult for the builder. Inadvertently, I saw the spare tire in the trunk and got an idea. I went to the repair shop for a waste tire and used it to successfully complete the construction of the firebrick fireplace. I went to the mountains at the weekend and picked up a piece of broken wood and put it on the original marble slab of the fireplace. My husband opened up a position in the basement, bought saws, made a succulent table out of waste material DIY, and almost became a master of woodworking.

The little friends who worked with me in building the garden were the garden designer, the craftsman and my husband. The craftsman is responsible for the overall design and remote control, my husband is responsible for purchasing materials and looking for the builder, and I am responsible for communicating and docking with the designer. For example, I want to build a fireplace, pool, refractory brick bench, hydrant, and ordinary gallery in the garden.

At first, my husband was very reluctant to take part in gardening, but now he loves flowers and plants far more than I do. Maybe this is the charm of the garden.

Over the past four years, the freshwater courtyard has learned a lot from desolation to fullness, from design to construction, and then to completion, and has become friends with designers. Of course, gardening made me evolve from an ignorant plant killer to a primary florist because I met many warm, kind, life-conscious and shared friends.

Spend warm time together in the garden

My favorite is the fireplace, through the floor-to-ceiling window of the living room, facing it, the garden has become a painting. After work, my husband grows flowers and weeds in the yard. I cook a loving dinner for my family in the kitchen. Sometimes I eat in the porch. The flowers bloom toward the courtyard, and the fragrance of the flowers is overflowing. In their spare time, the family cooped up in the garden, sprinkled water and moved soil together to spend warm time together.
