How to raise Phalaenopsis

Last Updated: 2024/11/05, For breeding Phalaenopsis, the temperature is 16 to 30 degrees; the air humidity is 60% to 80; it can be watered more during the growing period, but less when it is dormant; it is usually irradiated with scattered light; and liquid fertilizer is applied once every seven to ten days during the growing period. The other is to change the basin, every once in a while to give it new soil and a larger basin, to provide it with a relaxed environment.

1. Culture environment

(1) temperature: preferably sixteen to thirty degrees. Do not fall below thirteen degrees in winter and no higher than thirty-two degrees in summer.

(2) humidity: this refers to the air wettability, preferably between 60% and 80.

(3) watering: the growth period is in spring and summer, and more watering can be done. You can do it twice a day in summer, at nine in the morning and five in the afternoon. Less watering during dormancy, but no watering in winter.

(4) Illumination: it can be placed in a semi-shady place at ordinary times, and scattered light can be provided before and after flowering.

(5) fertilization: a large amount is needed in the growth period, and dilute liquid fertilizer can be used every other week to ten days. Use phosphate fertilizer at flowering stage, once every two or three weeks.

2. Pruning

What we are talking about here is mainly after flowering. The flowering period of the plant is usually around the Spring Festival, and the flowers will wither after about two or three months. At this time, the withered flowers should be cut off in time to reduce the consumption of nutrients. If it is cut from four to five nodes at the base of the stem, it will blossom again, but it is not conducive to flowering next year. Therefore, the right thing to do is to cut the flower stem from the bottom.

3. Change the basin

The growth rate of the plant is very fast and the pot needs to be changed regularly. If the matrix is aging or the air permeability becomes worse, it should also be replaced in time. It can usually be changed around May, before the new leaves grow out. Replace the old undernourished or poorly breathable soil, and then replace it with a larger pot that suits the plant size. This can provide a relaxed growth environment for them.
