How to raise chrysanthemums

I. Culture environment

1. Soil: it is best to use sandy soil with loose and good drainage, and acid soil is the best.

2. Watering: timely watering in dry weather and timely drainage in rainy season; sufficient moisture should be ensured before and after budding, and the soil should not be too dry or too wet; if stagnant water occurs due to large amount of watering, drainage measures should be taken in time to avoid rotting roots.

3. Fertilization: adequate nutrients should be ensured during the growth period, mainly nitrogen fertilizer and supplemented by phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. This can make the branches of chrysanthemums stronger and should be watered properly after fertilization.

4. Light: give it about 12 hours of light every day, but do not let it be exposed to strong sunlight, otherwise it may shorten its flowering period.

II. Methods of reproduction

1. Cuttage propagation: put the cuttings into the basin soil, compact the soil, and water the soil appropriately after cutting to keep the flower soil moist. It is best to put the flowerpot indoors during the day so as not to be illuminated by strong light.

2. Split-root propagation: dig up the mother plant, select the chrysanthemum seedlings with many roots and plant them, then compact the soil and water the appropriate amount.

III. Common diseases and insect pests

The common diseases and insect pests are brown spot, powdery mildew, aphids and so on, which are mostly caused by insufficient light, lack of ventilation and large temperature difference between day and night. Carbendazim and other chemicals can be used for prevention and control. We should also pay attention to strengthen ventilation and give it sufficient light.
