On this issue, Science Xingnong feels that it is necessary to introduce the relevant situation of Chinese and international soybeans, so that we can have a more in-depth understanding.

We should understand a practical problem. China's soybeans are heavily dependent on imports. In 2017, for example, the total amount of domestic soybeans was 13 million tons, while imports reached an unexpectedly 95.53 million tons. The degree of dependence on foreign imports is as high as 80%, and this dependence is still gradually enlarged, because with the demand for protein and meat products in our country, the amount of soybeans and soybean meal is increasing, and China's soybean production capacity is limited after all.

At present, in the world, the countries with strong soybean production capacity are the United States, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Ukraine, Uruguay, Russia and so on. Judging from the situation in the above countries, the soybeans in Ukraine and Russia are non-GM soybeans, while Brazil, the United States, Canada and Argentina have basically popularized GM soybeans. The situation in Uruguay is quite unique. At present, China has not established diplomatic relations with the country, so although the amount of soybeans in the country is not small, our country has not imported any GM or non-GM soybeans from the country so far.

According to the above analysis, the sources of China's soybeans are basically imported from the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Ukraine and Russia. Next, I will give you a general introduction.

Russia

Russian grain exports are carried out every year, and China has been increasing the import of Russian soybeans in the past two years. However, despite the large area of Russia, the amount of soybeans is really small. In 2017, it produced 3.6 million tons of soybeans, while China imported 500000 tons of soybeans from the country.

Ukraine

Although Ukrainian soybean is non-genetically modified, but limited by the land area, the soybean output is not high, and China's imports from Ukraine are also very low.

America

Judging from the situation in 2017, the amount of soybeans imported by the United States reached 33 million tons, basically accounting for more than 1/3 of China's total soybean imports. It is reported that the production of soybeans in the United States has been reduced this year, and the amount of soybeans in the United States will be even less due to problems in Sino-US relations.

Brazil

Brazil can be said to be the main exporter of China's soybean imports, exporting more than 50 million tons to China in 2017, accounting for 53.3% of the total. According to the estimate of the United States Department of Agriculture, Brazil's total soybean production this year will reach 11700 tons, making it the largest soybean producer in the world.

As a digression, after the promotion of genetically modified soybeans in Brazil, the Brazilian soybean industry not only did not decline, but also gradually improved its output and quality, entered the forefront of the world, and is now about to become the largest soybean producer in the world. Is this case worthy of our country to learn from?

Argentina

Argentina's soybean production is also very high, about 6 million tons, accounting for 6.9% of China's soybean imports. It is reported that Argentina's soybean output this year reached 50 million tons, which is the result of Argentina's severe drought and reduced production this year.

The above are some views that science can share with you. I hope it will be helpful to you.
