Indoor ornamental plants refer to the plants that can be cultivated and appreciated indoors for a long time. Most of these plants are native to tropical and subtropical forests. They are more shade-resistant and have strong adaptability or tolerance to indoor artificial environmental conditions, such as lower air humidity, dim light, poor ventilation and small temperature changes.

As indoor ornamental plants, they must have strong ornamental value: beautiful plant shape, strange plant shape, good overall ornamental effect or beautiful leaf color, and can produce beautiful and bright flowers. the flowers are large and gorgeous or blooming to produce rich, beautiful and attractive fruits.

Indoor flowers had better be non-toxic, no bad smell, no dust or burr, so as to avoid adverse effects on indoor personnel. Because of the above requirements for indoor flowers, plants cultivated outdoors cannot be forcefully moved indoors. Indoor flowers are different from those cultivated in the open field, and not all open field plants are suitable for indoor cultivation and appreciation.

Indoor flowers usually include: foliage plants (including large, medium and small green plants, climbers and overhanging plants); seasonal potted flowers (moved indoors only when they bloom); and fruit plants; cactus and succulent plants.

Common indoor flowers are found in the following families: Palmaceae, Moraceae, Araliaceae, Liliaceae, Araliaceae, Begonia, Gesneriaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Amaryllidaceae, Asteraceae, Compositae, Primulaceae, Photinaceae, Orchidaceae, Cactaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Euphorbiaceae and many ferns.
