The plants in the glass container look fresh and bright, and the culture pot is like a miniature ecosystem. It would be even better if they can be self-sufficient. The plants in the glass bottle can maintain their growth by themselves, as long as they are properly maintained. They can be watched for a long time.

The miniature bryophyte landscape pictured above can also maintain good growth in sealed glass containers, in which microbes, soil, sunlight and organic matter are kept in a circular state, and there is plenty of water inside. With the passage of time, a water cycle system is formed, as long as there is water and sunlight, this micro-landscape does not need to be taken care of.

Let's take a look at how these glass bottle miniature landscape plants are made, as well as the methods of maintenance, the materials that need to be prepared and the matters needing attention for plant selection. Proper maintenance can keep these glass bottle landscape plants for many years.

Step 1: select the environment

It is critical to simulate the environment of a tropical rain forest or woodland. You can create a greenhouse environment. Of course, you can also create a desert environment that can be used to preserve some desert plants. Open containers are used in the desert landscape. Closed containers are suitable for making rainforest environments.

There are many plants to choose from, such as common reticulate grass, cold water, pineapple, moss, pocket coconut and ferns, etc. The environment should be kept warm and moist all the year round and keep a certain amount of light, and the temperature is between 16 and 30 degrees.

For miniature landscapes like the above, it is enough to choose only two or three kinds of plants, such as the common Phoenix tail fern, peat moss and air pineapple, to maintain a warm and humid environment and high air humidity, and a little sunshine every day.

Step 2: select the container

There are two types of glass containers that can be selected. one is a closed container, which can maintain water on its own, and a miniature plant landscape that does not need to be managed, and a container with a lid is needed. The common one is the aquarium. Some people even use light bulbs to create a miniature plant landscape.

The other is a semi-open glass container, which needs to be watered and cleaned regularly. This kind of miniature plant landscape is more common. You can add some granular stones to the bottom of the basin, then put it into the soil, and then you can raise suitable plants.

When choosing plants, choose low plants, they will grow taller with the passage of time, to choose some shade-tolerant, waterlogging-tolerant plants.

Step 3: select the material

The following things are very easy to obtain, or you can prepare some by yourself, all of which are very cheap materials.

It is critical to prepare a suitable glass container. Of course, beginners should choose a semi-open transparent glass container.

Prepare some pebbles or other granular stones to make sure they are completely clean and avoid being infected with germs. you can wash them completely with bleach and then use them to grow flowers. The pebbles are spread at the bottom of the basin about 2cm to 3cm.

Prepare some activated carbon or bamboo charcoal, which can be used to block soil and gravel. It can also be used to clean water and absorb odors, which is critical in a sealed environment.

Prepare some water moss (peat moss), you can also prepare some moss yourself, not only for decoration, but also to maintain moisture, water moss does not need to be too thick.

Do not add fertilizer to the soil laid in the micro-landscape. The selected soil should be humus-rich and germ-free. It can be mixed with peat soil mixed with perlite at 1:1, or vermiculite can be added appropriately to keep moisture. The soil should be at least 4cm to 5cm thick. Enlarged pebbles or stones can be added to the container, which is good for decoration.

Step 4: select plants

The selected plants should be low, suitable for growing in a small space, and can grow well in a warm and humid environment. Let's take a look at all the suitable plants.

Below I will list some plants suitable for growing in glass containers, such as the bird's nest fern above, most of them are plants that can grow in half water and half soil, and most of them are tropical plants that can grow in aquariums. Keep proper light, heat and water to maintain good growth.

(like warm and humid thatched vegetables, but have little demand for fertilizer.)

Cold water flower, Tianmen winter, bird's nest fern, variable leaf wood, green apple, ivy, red star pineapple, stagnant pineapple, pocket coconut, golden cattail, thatched vegetable, pitcher plant, purples, ornamental bamboo taro, pansy, watermelon pepper grass.

The above is the black pearl, a perennial creeping plant with small leaves and low plants, suitable for growing in glass containers.

If you want to raise some special-looking plants, you can choose Phoenix tail fern, African violets, button ferns, stone pines, Selaginella and sorrel.

Step 5: preselect the plan

Before making glass landscape plants, you should first select the materials, and it is best to pre-select and plan the location of the plants to make the whole landscape look more natural and fresh.

Step 6: specific operation

First spread a layer of pebbles 2cm to 3cm thick at the bottom of the container, which is equivalent to a filter layer to avoid stagnant water in the soil and prevent plant roots from rotting.

Then spread a layer of activated carbon on top of the pebbles without mixing the two layers. The black one in the picture above is activated carbon.

After that, a layer of water moss is spread on the activated carbon, which is used to separate the soil from the activated carbon. It can also absorb water and keep the soil moist. If it is found that the water moss has gone bad, it needs to be replaced. Water moss is even a layer of isolation material.

Finally, spread the soil and add the soil to it with a spoon to make sure the soil is deep enough to ensure that the plants have enough space to grow.

If dead leaves are found in the process of planting plants, you should remove them in time. Chopsticks, tweezers and spoons can be used when planting plants. Planting plants requires special care and care.

After planting plants, you can cover the soil with pebbles, bark and peat moss. Make sure the stream is clean before adding these things, and don't move germs into the container.

After planting plants, you can properly spray water, remove some residual soil, and keep the soil moist, but do not pour too much water to avoid stagnant water inside. If you see that the pebbles at the bottom are watered, stop watering.

Step 7: post-maintenance

The maintenance position should be placed in a warm and ventilated place, keep the temperature between 15 and 30 degrees, maintain a certain amount of air humidity, avoid excessive dryness, keep the soil moist and avoid excessive dryness.

Diseased leaves or diseased plants should be removed in time to avoid excessive moisture in the glass container, and withered leaves should be removed in time, otherwise they are easy to rot.
