Bonsai Garden is a form of garden in the park that has gradually appeared in the park in our country since the 1960s. Later, after slow development, it became a special garden mainly based on bonsai creation, bonsai collection and bonsai display, with a relatively stable source of visitors, which is also the product of the development of bonsai cause. Today's bonsai garden, the main function of is creation and display. With the continuous development of society, people's demand for spiritual culture is increasing, and the function of bonsai garden is constantly improving, such as bonsai research, transaction auction and so on. To a certain extent, the emergence of this kind of bonsai garden has also promoted the development of China's bonsai industry and the spread of bonsai culture and art.
The general bonsai garden is basically divided into two large areas: the production area and the exhibition area. Most of the bonsai garden production areas are not open to the public, only for the creation and restoration of bonsai. The exhibition area is generally divided into outdoor exhibition area and indoor exhibition area, which is generally arranged in combination with the characteristic sketches, lawns and landscape walls in the garden to integrate bonsai with nature. The bonsai in the indoor exhibition area is usually placed in the corner, windowsill and case table, and is generally equipped with paintings, calligraphy and so on.

From the data, it is concluded that there are differences in the size and function of bonsai gardens across the country. From the classification of bonsai garden, it can be distinguished according to the following classification methods.
Classify by form and scale
According to different forms, bonsai gardens can be divided into independent bonsai gardens, garden-in-garden gardens and bonsai museums. Independent bonsai gardens are like most private bonsai gardens, including Shanghai Botanical Garden and bonsai museum.
Classify according to ownership
At present, private bonsai gardens and state-owned bonsai gardens are the two main categories in China, but a small number of bonsai gardens adopt the management mode of public-private partnership. State-owned bonsai gardens are mostly in the form of parks or gardens in parks. At present, private bonsai gardens account for the majority in our country. Because they are funded by private or private groups, the most important thing is bonsai sales. This kind of bonsai gardens generally have imperfect display functions.
Classified by bonsai genre
Due to the vast territory of China, resulting in differences in natural conditions and cultures, there are many bonsai schools in China. At present, the most widely spread factions in China are Lingnan School, Su School, Sichuan School, Huizhou School, Shanghai School, Yang School, Tong School and so on. In order to develop the bonsai cause, they have begun to build bonsai gardens, such as Shanghai Botanical Garden Bonsai Garden mentioned later. In recent years, other new bonsai schools have also begun to emerge. for example, Fujian Minnan style bonsai is mainly based on banyan trees and cliff-style bonsai.
Classified by limitation type
Judging from the current situation, most of the existing bonsai gardens are permanent, and temporary bonsai gardens generally appear in some temporary exhibitions, such as bonsai flower exhibitions and garden expositions. When the exhibition is over, such temporary bonsai gardens will be demolished.
Classification by plant variety
At present, most of the bonsai gardens in China have a wide variety of bonsai plants, but there is no lack of individual bonsai gardens that prefer a single variety of bonsai, such as banyan, elm, apple, boxwood, Luohan pine bonsai (pine and cypress garden). This depends on the preference of bonsai garden owners, and some bonsai gardens are combined with flower gardens, so bonsai gardens can be divided into single variety bonsai gardens, comprehensive bonsai gardens, flower bonsai gardens and so on.
