Last Updated: 2024/11/22, White palm requires the use of loose, good drainage permeability, humus-rich soil. Rotten leaf soil can be evenly mixed with peat soil and then mixed with some river sand or perlite. In order to increase its nutrition, some base fertilizer can also be added. It is necessary to pay attention to the soil not only when planting, but also when changing pots regularly.

1. Soil requirements

(1)Loose: To achieve this requirement, it is conducive to the smooth breathing of white palm and smooth growth.

(2)Drainage is good: white palm is particularly afraid of waterlogging, not ponding, so pay attention to the level of drainage.

(3)Good air permeability: This soil is not easy to agglomerate, but also conducive to the respiration of the roots, thus promoting growth.

(4)Containing humus: nutrition is also very important, directly affecting whether it can grow healthily. Therefore, the soil contains more humus.

2. What soil to use

Comprehensive above requirements, can not use too sticky soil, available sandy soil. Specifically, the moldy soil and peat soil can be mixed evenly, and then some river sand or pearlite can be added, accounting for about a quarter. In addition, in order to ensure adequate nutrient supply, you can also add some base fertilizer, such as bone meal, cake crumbs, etc., not too much.

3. Application when changing pots

Not only do you need to pay attention to soil selection when planting, but you should also pay attention to changing pots. It has to be replaced every year or two. In early spring, before new buds sprout in large numbers, change pots. Trim the roots, then throw out some of the old soil and replace it with new soil. When selecting new soil, the requirements are basically consistent. If necessary, replace the bowl altogether. For example, when the white palm grows up, it needs to be replaced with a larger basin.
