Iron tree, also known as cycad, is a common foliage plant, its tree shape is quaint, the trunk is stout, hard as iron, the feather leaves are smooth and bright, and the four seasons are evergreen. The growth rate of iron tree is slow, but its life span is very long, even up to more than 200 years. It is often used to decorate courtyards and halls. It is very beautiful.

Iron tree is a more tenacious plant, it has a strong ability to adapt to the environment and is easy to feed. However, in the process of daily cultivation, it is inevitable to encounter the problem of yellowing and withering of leaves. Don't worry, the editor will give you some advice today. If your iron tree has problems such as yellowing leaves, take a look.

Soil

Soil is the basic condition for the healthy growth of iron trees. Tetranychus likes porous, loose and fertile sandy loam, so it is not suitable to be cultivated in clayey soil, otherwise it is easy to rot the plant rhizome and even lead to the death of the whole plant because of poor drainage and hypoxia.

Potted soil can be mixed with 6 parts of garden soil, 3 parts of rotten leaf soil and 1 part of bran ash, and we can also add some bone powder when configuring basin soil, which is more conducive to the growth of iron trees.

Change the basin

Because the growth process of the iron tree is relatively slow, it is very important to turn the basin and change the soil, otherwise the looseness and permeability of the soil will become worse over a long time, affecting its growth. Small plants should turn the basin and change the soil once every spring, but it is not necessary to change it into a large basin every year. Large plants can be changed once in 2-3 years. When changing the basin, cut off some old roots properly so that they can grow new ones.

Watering

Tieshu likes the warm and humid environment, but it is not resistant to waterlogging, so when watering, we must pay attention not to irrigate too much water, for too much water will cause soil void water saturation, thus affecting the respiration of the roots of Tieshu, causing the leaves to wilt, and even blackening the roots and withering the plants.

The basin soil is too dry and it is not advisable. Because of the lack of necessary water for growth, the leaves become pale and yellow and the leaf tips become scorched. Therefore, the principle of irontree watering is "do not dry, water will be thoroughly". In winter, if the basin soil is not particularly dry, we do not have to water it, and it is even more difficult to water it through, so as to avoid freezing on the basin soil.

Light

Insufficient or too strong light will cause the leaves of the iron tree to turn yellow. Although iron trees like light, too strong light can easily cause yellowing of leaves, especially for new leaves, which should be avoided. However, if the iron tree is kept in a shady place for a long time, it will also make the leaves lose their original green.

Iron deficiency

The reason why the iron tree is called the iron tree, but also because it can not grow without iron, if the lack of iron, iron leaves will turn yellow. So if the leaves of your iron tree turn yellow, it means it should be replenished in time.

So we can add 0.5% ferrous sulfate when fertilizing, about once a month is enough. Rusty nails and iron sheets can also be placed in the basin soil to allow iron to gradually seep into the soil to provide the necessary iron elements for the growth of iron trees. as long as iron is replenished, the leaves of iron trees will of course become very greenish.
