The Silver antler (Primulina'SilverAntler'), a flower variety of Gesneriaceae, was successfully registered internationally on May 2. It is a new hybrid breed jointly bred by Xu Hui of Wuhan Landscape Research Institute and Huang Sheng and Lu Wenjun of Enshi Dongsheng Plant Development Co., Ltd.
"Silver antlers" has been certified by the World Gesneriaceae Plant Association (TheGesneriadSoceity), an international authority for new species of Gesneriaceae, and its variety name has been internationally certified.
In the past 45 years, the first internationally recognized new variety was born in Wuhan Landscape Science Research Institute, which is also an important achievement and breakthrough in the research of new garden plant varieties.
"Silver antler" is a new hybrid variety obtained from the cross between bovine ear and blunt calyx in Gesneriaceae. The female bovine ear is characterized by large number of flowers and plump plant type, and the leaf vein of the male parent is silver, while the 'silver antler' combines the excellent characters of the male parent and the female parent. The leaves are green, the veins are silver, and they are shaped like antlers, so they are named silver antlers. Its plant type is plump, the leaf is luxuriant, the flower is dense, the posture is graceful, the flower is fuchsia, or stands gracefully on the leaf, or blooms quietly between the leaves.
"Silver antlers" not only has a good ornamental, but also has a strong adaptability, can adapt to the climatic characteristics of large areas, and can be popularized and applied in various areas.
