Everyone knows the beauty of rose flowers, but if you want to cultivate such a beautiful face, the effort behind it must be necessary. In the process of cultivation, post-flower pruning is a very important but often overlooked job, so today let's learn about this "familiar stranger".

Why do you need post-flower pruning?

Old florists who raise Chinese roses often say the word "the moon does not leave the scissors", which also shows the importance of pruning for rose flowers. You know, the rose itself has the characteristics of "new branches and new buds", especially in some varieties, as soon as the flowers wither, the leaf buds begin to grow and form new branches. If the Buddhist attitude is adopted, it is likely to make the originally strong note become thin, the flowers become smaller, and may even affect normal ventilation and light transmission, so pruning is necessary.

When is the right time to cut it?

You have asked this question at the right time. It is better to choose a date than to hit another day. The first prime time for pruning after the rose is in May. According to the experience taught by the old florist, the rose needs to be trimmed three times a year, and the first one is preferably in mid-late May, so if your rose has just finished blooming, you should take advantage of this opportunity to trim it.

So, what should be done?

In fact, the equipment and operation of post-flower pruning are very simple, only a pair of small scissors can make the rookie in front of the screen instantly become a florist. The residual flowers should be cut off in time when pruning, so that the nutrition of the whole flower can be concentrated on the germinating new branches. if you want to restrain its growth, you can retain 4-5 buds, while the weaker branches need to be strongly cut to retain 1-2 buds to promote their sprouting.

As for the second and third post-anthesis pruning, it needs to be arranged in late June / July and after August, respectively. Among them, the second pruning is in the middle of summer, so it is not necessary to cut off too many branches and leaves in the whole process, otherwise it may affect the normal photosynthesis of rose flowers.

After the first two pruning, the third (August) pruning should be changed to medium pruning, leaving 2-3 buds on each piece of paper, preferably on the last batch of flowering branches, which helps to remove overlapping branches. Cross branches and over-dense branches, of course, a total of eight words: "eliminate the weak and stay strong, ensure the light".
