Orchid friends often ask me when it is good to divide the seedlings of this orchid. In fact, orchids should not be divided into pots except when it is the hottest in summer, all other times are OK, but the matters needing attention are different. Good photo farmers do not like to preach, nor do they understand the preaching in books, so I will tell you with my own real experience.

In January 2018, an orchid friend in Guangdong needed spring orchid seedlings. Her request was about three seedlings per tree, so she wanted five. The purpose was to produce different flowers and colors. The farmer understood Lanyou's psychology very well, so I divided the seedlings for her from different pots. Give her the seedlings with buds, and put the rest back into the pot.

In early March after the Spring Festival, good farmers' own orchids also need to be divided into pots, so they are divided according to the conventional method, and the planting materials and management are the same. When I checked in late April, I found that the roots in those pots before the Spring Festival were already very long, and there were many buds. I just had crystal heads in the pots later, and the buds sprouted, but not so many and strong.

Since then, this matter has been in my mind for a long time, and my answer is like this: when the seedlings are divided in winter, Langen is dormant at that time, and there are no new roots and buds. You need to be careful not to hurt the bud. After the beginning of spring, it has passed the dormant period, because it no longer needs to disturb it, so it will sprout and take root quickly. The seedlings in the spring pot already have signs of sprouting at that time, so no matter how careful they are, they will always have an impact on the new buds.

So I come to the conclusion: orchid seedlings are better before the Spring Festival, of course, if you are afraid of missing the florescence, you can also do so after the festival. Just like our farmers planting fruit trees, the ones planted during the Spring Festival are easier to survive than those planted by Arbor Day, and grow faster that year.
