Lemon, edible fruit is good for the body; leaves have a strong lemon aroma and can be used to extract essential oils and make soap; flowers white or yellow, fresh smell, summer flowering has mosquito repellent effect. Family cultivation of potted lemon requires more efforts in water and fertilizer management and pruning. Poor culture management can easily lead to only flowering but no fruit or little fruit, and some even grow leaves without flowering.

Potted lemon due to limited potted soil, rapid nutrient consumption, it is generally recommended to change the soil in the early spring every year, soil configuration suggested loose and fertile slightly acidic soil, such as mature pine needle soil or rotten leaf soil plus garden soil and river sand according to 3:2:1 ratio. A small amount of compound fertilizer can be added to the bottom of the basin to ensure an adequate supply of nutrients during the growing period. After changing the basin, put it in a cool and ventilated place to slow the basin for a week and then it can be maintained normally. Lemons like light, but excessive sunlight will cause poor growth and development. Potted lemons should be moved to a mild environment suitable for growth at noon in midsummer. The most suitable growth temperature is 23 ℃ ~ 29 ℃. Lemon likes fertilizer, apply more nitrogen fertilizer during the peak growth period of branches and leaves in spring, promote multiple spring shoots, and pick the heart in time at the same time. Some rotten cake fertilizer and water can also be applied to enhance plant fertility and promote branches to mature earlier. After entering autumn, reduce fertilization, avoid branches and leaves too luxuriant sprouting autumn shoots, compete with fruit for nutrients.

If you want more lemons to blossom and bear fruit, timely pruning is indispensable. Before spring shoot germination, cut off disease and insect branches, cross branches, introverted branches and newly sprouting branches, leave 4 or 5 full buds for strong branches, and 2 or 3 buds for weak branches, so as to promote more robust spring shoots on each branch. After the spring shoot has grown, the 3 or 4 nodes of the shoot can be cut off in order to control its overgrowth. In the future, the new shoots will be plucked when there are 6-8 knots to promote more summer shoots.

In order to promote the formation of flower buds and accumulate nutrients for lemon trees, the End of Heat can control the water management of potted lemons. The specific steps are as follows: the End of Heat gradually reduced the water supply to potted lemons in the first 10 days, and stopped the water supply after 10 days, lasting for about 5 days. During this period, a small amount of water can be sprayed on the basin soil and leaves, so that lemons are under the condition of drought and not dying, when the axillary buds are expanding day by day, and most of the buds change from green to white. It shows that controlling water and promoting flowers are successful. At this time, the water supply to potted lemons should be restored in time.

In order to reduce the excessive consumption of nutrients, the buds can be thinned in time after the lemon blossoms, and the rotten organic liquid fertilizer can be applied at the same time. As most of the potted lemons are cultivated indoors and no insects patronize, it will lead to unsuccessful pollination or less fruit. It is suggested to pollinate the potted lemon by artificial pollination, that is, using cotton swabs to get the pollen from the periphery stamens to the middle style. If pollination is successful, lemon will bear much fruit. After the flowers thank the fruit, and then reduce part of the young fruit, let the nutrients concentrate on the supply of the remaining young fruit, and at the same time pinch off the new shoots in time to prevent nutrient loss. After the fruit turns yellow, stop fertilization and reduce watering in time, keep the soil slightly dry, which can effectively prolong the viewing period.
