Clematis is known as the "queen of Fujimoto", but it is not very famous. Of course, many flower friends do not know how to raise it, and the environment is too hot to support. Let's teach you how to solve it.

It is common to see a clematis plant full of flowers and almost no leaves. And the flowers are getting bigger and bigger, and there are more changes in color. I also see a lot of bichromatic flowers, even double flowers. However, the original monochromatic clematis is still very beautiful and popular.

Clematis originated in the north of China, and it is also quite common in the northeast of China, so there is "clematis northeastern".

Clematis are climbing plants that are suitable for growing on brackets or fences. Some clematis can't climb by themselves, so help fix them.

But the branch is very thin, should be handled carefully, because there are many flowers, the florescence is also long, certainly will not let you down. Some people even plant two kinds of clematis which bloom at different times together to prolong the flowering period.

I. attention to daily maintenance

1. The location of planting

Clematis is easy to grow and can allow a little shade, but it needs enough light to have a good flowering condition. It is best to have half a day of sunshine every day, and do not be afraid to plant in the east or northeast direction.

2. Soil selection

Clematis likes neutral soil. In rainy areas, lime can be added once or twice a year (half a cup each time).

In alkaline soil areas, some bone fertilizer should be added when planting, and organic soil should be used more when planting, including compost soil, animal manure soil, peat soil and so on.

3. Proper shading

Clematis is afraid of hot and dry weather. although branches and leaves need sunshine, they need to keep their roots cool, so clematis are often seen planted at the feet of other plants for shade at the bottom.

It is most often seen growing with Chinese roses. If there are no other plants nearby to shade, you should use more cover soil, that is, pile up cover soil on the roots, you can use bark, pine needles, leaves, etc., to keep the roots cool.

4. The importance of watering

Although clematis is perennial, watering should not be ignored.

It must be watered in hot and dry weather to keep the roots cool. In addition, fertilizers can be applied once or twice when new buds appear in early spring. (the following is a rare compound flower. )

II. Control of leaf blight

However, clematis occasionally get Fusarium wilt and suddenly wither, and the leaves and stems become dry and white. This is because infected with a germ, lucky, only a few stems and leaves withered, but bad luck spread quickly.

Once a disease is found, the diseased branch should be cut off immediately and cut near the ground, so that the plant can be saved. Soon new stems will grow from the ground.

To prevent, it is best to use stone-sulfur mixture in early spring, because it is most likely to occur near the root of the stem, the prevention way is to plant part of the stem into the soil, so that when infection occurs, the underground stem will also produce a new stem, so that the whole plant will not die.

With the exception of tomatoes and clematis, all plants cannot be planted in this way. Just can't put part of the stem into the soil. In addition, the planting site should be clean, the soil should be clean, and the soil should be watered regularly.

With good care, clematis can grow and blossom endlessly. It's a very worthwhile investment.

Third, how to trim properly?

People who grow clematis are most likely to be bothered by their pruning, because different varieties of clematis are trimmed in completely different ways. So you must know what kind of clematis you have, and you will know how to cut them.

The first kind: flowering in early spring

If your clematis blossomed in early spring and bloomed on the old branches of the previous year, this kind of clematis does not need pruning. As long as after the flowers fade, within a month, cut off the weak or withered branches to make the tree look good. You don't need a big cut.

The second kind: blossoms in May and June

If it is May, June blossoms on old branches, and autumn blossoms again, but on new branches, this category should be gently cut in April. The way is to choose stronger branches and cut them above the bud in order to encourage new branches to produce more flowers next year.

The third kind: blossoms in July and August

Varieties that bloom on new branches of the same year in July and August should be cut heavily before winter after the flower fade, or in early April.

At about 30 centimeters above the ground, several buds were cut above to encourage new shoots to bloom next year.

The fruit of clematis is lovely, isn't it? )

As for clematis, it is generally not necessary to prune clematis regularly, but only when it is too luxuriant and there is not enough space.

The best pruning time is at the end of winter and early spring. It can be cut to the wooden part of the previous year, that is, above the base.

In this way, the buds of the spring will be cut off, but the summer flowering will remain in full bloom and will be in better shape at the same time.

If you don't want such a big cut, you can also cut it for three years according to the stage, cutting 1/3 of the stems each year to the remaining 6-9 inches, so that there are still flowers every spring, but the whole plant will become new every three years.

The climbing characteristics of clematis enable it to climb any shape. The following is seen in a botanical garden near the Great Falls, let the wire climb a round sphere made of rattan, the effect is very good.

IV. Species of clematis

After the cultivation of horticulturists, there are more and more kinds of clematis, and more and more people grow clematis, and many people collect different varieties of clematis just like roses.

Some families have planted more than a dozen species in one yard. Here are some of the most beautiful and rare clematis seen recently:

Below is a very large safflower, and six petals are as thick as velvet, very expensive. The other is purplish red, but the four petals are very thin, like an iron cross.

5. Other similar varieties

The following is the hydrangea vine, which is the earliest species to bloom every year. The flowers are slender and beautiful, but they are so strong that they are very contagious, so they are often planted to cover a wall or some ugly buildings. (figure below)

Another lantern-shaped clematis, blue-purple lantern-shaped flowers, although the flowers are small, but very eye-catching. This flower can tolerate a little shade and blossoms in summer, so it can be cut heavily in early spring. Cut too late and you lose the chance to blossom. (see figure below)

Clematis, a recently popular lantern with smaller flowers, looks like the lavender lantern shown below. It blossoms with a lot of flowers and is also a favorite of collectors.

As for the yellow clematis, which have recently become a collection of gardeners in the backyard, the picture below shows the native alpine yellow species in China. The flowers are very small, and the four petals are initially lantern-shaped and then turned up. After the flower fades, the seeds will be in the shape of silk.
