Water supply of orchids
The orchid plant "likes the rain but is afraid to be scrawled" and "likes to moisten but is afraid of wet". Whenever there are signs of slight drying and whitening in the basin substrate, it should be watered. But at the end of autumn, in order to properly buckle water to increase light, promote the formation of fiber tissue of plant leaves, accelerate the maturity of new leaves, and improve frost resistance, it can be watered the next day or the third day after the basin substrate is slightly dried. However, soilless cultivation and granular soil cultivation, due to the poor water retention of the matrix, so whenever the basin matrix is slightly dry, it should be watered quickly, otherwise, the orchid plant is prone to poor growth due to the loss of "moisture".
Orchid plant "likes to dry but is afraid of dryness", which is relative to "happy and moist but afraid of dampness". It is also used to prevent people from mistakenly thinking that if they are happy and moist, they are often watered, watered more and even cause waterlogging damage. Many newcomers to the orchid gate often mistakenly think that more watering can be "moist", so they are watered frequently, and nine times out of ten orchid plants die. This should be taken as a warning. In fact, this "moistening" refers to some moisture in the matrix, not the infiltration of water. This is because the orchid is a terrestrial plant rather than an aquatic plant, and its roots are fleshy and easily rot because the substrate is too wet. (Xu Dongsheng)
