Raising orchids and watering is a process that is difficult for people who love orchids to grasp. In the orchid circle, there is a saying that "raise orchids and water them for three years". In fact, many novice orchids often ask the question of how to water them. This problem cannot be simply generalized, but should be treated differently according to various actual conditions. As for how many days to burn and when to water, some used to determine watering by measuring the weight of the orchid basin, some looked at the basin soil to water, and some looked at the dry and wet orchid basin to water it. This is feasible for those who have many years of experience in raising orchids, but it is difficult for new lovers to master it. Didn't you see that some orchids of those who first raised orchids are either rotting roots and seedlings, or burning leaf tips, yellow leaves, and seriously dead seedlings. In particular, some good varieties of famous orchid seedlings are raised a lot, which is a great pity. What are the reasons? It is mainly due to improper watering.

In order to get through watering, we must first observe the growth characteristics of orchids and understand the needs of the whole process of orchid growth. Generally speaking, Langen is different from the roots of other plants, so its growth needs a special environment: it should have loose, ventilated, dry and wet soil rich in trace fertilizers. Water is the source of plant life, lack of water, orchid leaves can not carry out photosynthesis, in the orchid growth period when the soil is dry for a long time, it will wilt the roots and affect the normal growth of orchid seedlings; but too much water will cause hypoxia. If the basin soil is wet and stuffy for a long time, it will affect the breathing of Langen and cause asphyxiation and decay, leading to dead seedlings. Orchid is a half-gas ecological fleshy root, avoid hypoxia in the basin. Many novice orchid farmers fail because the basin soil is wet, because they can't see whether there is any water in the basin soil, and they are afraid of drying and killing the orchid seedlings and watering them too often. Therefore, controlling the dry humidity of pot soil has become an important link in the cultivation of orchids.

After a long time of repeated practice, the author finally made good efforts to find out the orchid culture technology of putting vent pipe in basin soil, which integrates moisture measurement, hydrophobicity and air permeability, and the effect is very good. With it, everyone can control the watering time, and anyone who loves an orchid can raise the possibility of a good orchid.

The specific method is very simple: when planting orchids, one or more vents with small holes are placed obliquely in orchid pots with different textures, different specifications and different plant materials. Put the tube according to the size of the orchid basin to determine the number and length: 10-l5 you put one pot on the line, 15-20 years of the basin put 2. This tube can usually be used for drainage and ventilation, so that the basin can absorb water evenly, less than half of the water. It can also make the basin soil breathable and the root air ventilated. At the same time, it can be used as a window to determine the water content of the basin soil, that is, after the hygrometer is inserted into the tube for a period of time, the dry and wet soil will be known by drawing out the reading. To test the dryness and wetness of the soil, you can also use a bamboo needle for knitting a sweater or a mutton kebab stick, roll a napkin and gently insert it into the bottom of the pipe. After 4 hours, take out the napkin to see if it is dry and wet to determine whether or not to water it. Note that the napkin on the bamboo stick must be rolled tightly to prevent it from falling off in the tube. The tube inserted into the orchid basin should not be too large, the tube will occupy the space of the orchid basin and affect the growth of the orchid root. The hole drilled on the pipe should not be too large. If the hole is large, the basin soil will seep into the pipe, and the Langen will grow into the hole, which will affect the effect of use. The pipe adopts D-PVC flame retardant cold-formed electrical casing with a diameter of 16 ". The electric drill of 2Mel 3 drill bit is used to drill 6 rows of holes with 8l-10 spacing, and the holes are drilled to fill the whole pipe. The length of the pipe should be increased by 20% according to the height of the orchid basin, because the pipe is inclined, and the pipe head should also be exposed on the basin surface. The lower end of the pipe should be aligned with the outside of the bottom hole of the basin, and should not be placed vertically on the bottom hole or against the edge of the basin, otherwise it will affect the accuracy of orchid planting and moisture measurement. If it is a large basin, you need to put more than one pipe, each of which should not be too close. The small bamboo stick tested can not be kept in the tube for a long time, so as not to affect the efficiency of inserting the stick. In order to test accurately and facilitate management, if large-scale orchid cultivation can achieve the same texture and size of orchid pots and the same planting materials, it is only necessary to select 2murl 3 points (pots) around and in the center to measure humidity. If the texture, size and plant material of the orchid basin are not consistent, this point selection method of moisture measurement will be partial and misleading watering. In case the humidity measurement is far apart, it is necessary to consider whether the shading and heating of the orchid shed is unbalanced, and to achieve the equal difference balance of dry and wet in the shed by improving the structure of the orchid shed.
