Re-acquaintance of "Byrus"
Here I would like to use simple language to introduce the "theoretical problems" of "Byras" to these orchid friends. I believe that theory will be useful in guiding practical work (planting orchids and preventing "Byras").
"Byras" is the transliteration of a foreign language, which is rarely used outside the national orchid boundary, and the more common name is "virus". Plants can get a variety of diseases, and the classification can be divided into two categories: "biological" and "abiotic"; "biological" can be divided into "bacteria", "fungi" (moldy ones) and "viruses" (nematodes and other pests can cause plant trauma, but that's not a disease). Because there are many kinds of bacteria, fungi, and viruses, there are many kinds of orchid diseases, and prevention and control often require different methods, such as the use of different pesticides. But for viral diseases, almost no pesticides are effective, which is obviously different and terrible characteristics of viral diseases compared with bacteria and fungal diseases, which is caused by the nature of viruses.
Viruses are very special organisms, and the biggest difference from bacteria and fungi as well as many organisms is that viruses are "molecular organisms" rather than "cellular organisms". The virus lives in the living cells of other organisms, such as orchids, uses the "energy, tools and substances" in the living cells to reproduce itself, and can reproduce faster than any other creature under the right conditions. Therefore, the virus is also a kind of "parasite". The reason why pesticides are difficult to play a role in viral diseases is that it is difficult for pesticides to be non-toxic to plant cells and be able to kill (technically called "degradation") viruses in cells.
Because of the parasitic nature of the virus, it will affect the life of the parasitic cells (leaf spots are a manifestation) and, in severe cases, lead to cell death.
