Match breeding materials according to local conditions
During the National Day holiday, orchid friends use the holiday to turn the pot one after another, and how to prepare breeding material has become a practical problem of common concern.
Although there are many kinds of orchid breeding materials, there are no more than two kinds, namely: modern granular breeding wood and traditional orchid mud (humus soil) breeding wood. I think good breeding wood must have three elements: breathability, moisturizing and nutrients. The advantages of granular breeding wood are good air permeability and water permeability, clean and hygienic, conducive to root cultivation, but lack of nutrition; orchid mud (humus soil) has all nutrients, but poor air permeability and water permeability is not clean and hygienic. The two kinds of breeding materials have their own advantages and disadvantages, and the simple use has its limitations. Therefore, it is best to combine traditional and modern, match breeding materials according to local conditions, and mix granular breeding materials with sieve orchid mud (saprophytic soil) in a ratio of one to one. I use grub droppings, sifted orchid mud (saprophytic soil), wind fossils (or river sand) three and one mixed breeding materials to raise orchid trees, and the results are good. Lanyou in the preparation of their own breeding materials can be based on the local reality, in line with scientific and practical principles of flexible grasp, can not be rigid.
