I am still a novice at growing orchids for less than two years. In previous years, because they did not know the cultivation techniques of orchids, most of the plants randomly chose the soft humus leaf soil used to grow orchids in the market. the cultivated orchids often had rotten seedlings and dry tips, and often sent new seedlings and rotten plants. Later, through the knowledge seen in the Internet and books, it was found that this kind of soil is very unsuitable for growing orchids, and it is easy to accumulate water because of its acidity and poor air permeability.

This year, I bought two kinds of special plant materials for bark orchids in the local market in Zibo, Shandong Province. after using this to plant orchids, the phenomenon of rotten seedlings and roots was never found again. My personal experience through practice is as follows:

1. The first kind of bark (yellow bark in the photo, estimated to be dried, degreased and carbonized bark) is not effective alone and has poor moisturizing effect. it is necessary to check the humidity of orchid pots frequently and water them in time to prevent dry pots. And choose the spray pot to pour slowly when watering, so that the water can completely permeate the plant. Through the observation for 3 months, although the orchid planted with this plant did not die, the orchid plant rooting and sprouting very slowly. I personally analyzed that the reason was that the bark was large and it was not easy to protect the orchid root, which affected the new root of the orchid seedling.

2. Using the second kind of bark alone (the black bark in the photo, probably rotten or retted bark), all the trees have drilled new roots, but not many new seedlings have been seen. According to my observation and analysis, this decayed plant material is rich in certain fertility and organic nutrients, and can maintain a certain uniform humidity, but also appropriately stick to the root base of the guardrail, which provides better environmental conditions for the roots of orchid seedlings. But this kind of bark breathable feeling is not as good as the first kind of bark, although the moisturizing property is good, but also to prevent the middle bottom of the orchid basin from watering. Adjust the watering interval at any time according to climate change, and the orchid pot should be placed in a place with good ventilation in the window to prevent retting.

3. The bottom of the orchid basin uses coarse bark (the yellow bark in the photo), the middle uses the second kind of bark (the black bark in the photo), and then adds fairy soil and orchid stone to the upper part. A lot of leaf buds are drilled at the same time, but they are not willing to look at the root of the orchid basin. I don't know the situation of the root.

4. The bottom of the orchid basin is planted with coarse-grained bark (the yellow bark in the photo), the middle part is a mixture of two kinds of bark, and the upper layer is covered with a layer of pine needle soil of about 2 cm, in order to improve the moisturizing effect. This is a new method I chose after combining the advantages and disadvantages of the two kinds of bark plants. The results have not yet come out, and the estimated results should be good. I have planted a total of 32 orchids, but there are no good varieties (recently, the scale will grow to about 80 pots, and the mail-order orchids are estimated to arrive tomorrow, there are cold orchids, spring orchids, autumn orchids and Cymbidium, about 400 seedlings, , there is a chance to experiment with different varieties at the same time), almost all orchids normally planted have adopted this practice.

Another note: before planting, I always dry the roots, then crush the aspirin tablets, then melt them with medicinal alcohol, soak the blue roots in the proportion of 1800, and then dry them a little before planting. More than 10 days later, I began to let the newly planted orchid pot see light (using the window's thin curtains to block some of the strong light), spraying dilight potassium phosphate and aspirin tablets alcohol-soluble water on the leaves every half a month or so at the ratio of 1000.

The reason why I mostly choose bark is that it is cheap and easy to buy considering my own economic conditions.

Through practice, my personal experience is: bark cultivation breathable newly planted orchids are easy to send new roots, as long as I try to do a good job of water conservation (my approach is to cover the basin with pine coniferous soil about 2 cm according to local conditions. Both breathable and moisturizing) is a very good economical and applicable plant material. The mixture of fairy bark and orchid stone is easy to send new roots and seedlings, which is the best choice of plant material (purely personal opinion), but the prices of fairy soil and orchid stone are not very cheap, and the cost of planting orchids is very high. For working-class people like me, I feel a little unaffordable.

The above are my personal views for your reference. The orchids used in the experiment are two downhill grasses with an average of 3-4 yuan in the hands of many orchid vendors from the south of the bazaar in early February (each plant is about 4 seedlings, single seedling is more, few joint plants). According to the south vendor, the Jian orchid and spring sword used in the experiment are varieties of orchids, and langen is relatively better. Please comment on my orchid. Hey, hey, I don't object to patting bricks, but don't dampen my enthusiasm. Haha, I've only been raising orchids for two years. I'm a beginner. Hey, hey, the growth is very gratifying. In the future, I also plan to conduct experiments on different varieties, and the test results will be published online for your reference. (Liu Guanglei)
