Every time the new orchid friends get started, they are thinking about what kind of flowerpots to raise orchids. I recall that when the author first started to raise orchids, the orchid pots at home were really like grocery stores, and there were all kinds of orchid pots. At first, I used the green pottery basin which is very traditional and popular in Chaoshan, but later, I fell in love with the purple sand basin. With the increase in the number of orchids, messy pots have brought inconvenience to management. In order to reconcile many orchid pots in the orchid room, the drainage speed can be uniform, we must use pots with little difference in size, thickness, thickness, and shape, so that many orchid pots in the same room can be watered at the same time, after the same time, each orchid basin is in the same dry state, or there will not be much difference. At present, it seems that plastic flowerpots are relatively easy to achieve. Of course, some orchid friends specially customize or buy whole batches of purple sand pots or lightweight porcelain pots for ventilation and beauty, but the cost is really high. With regard to plastic pots, many orchid friends have different views and feel that they are not ventilated. In fact, this is a misunderstanding.

It is not difficult to grow orchids. The first thing to solve is the ventilation and moisture control of the structure in the basin. It is crucial to use what kind of orchid pot and what kind of plant materials. As for what kind of flowerpot to use, we should focus on its economy and usability. If the selection of plant materials and moisture control are not well mastered, then no matter how good the orchid basin is, the effect may not be good.

There are a variety of flowerpots for orchid cultivation, including mud pots, porcelain pots, purple sand pots and plastic pots. The mud basin is the plain fired tile basin, which has good air permeability, can filter water, and the price is cheap, so it is suitable for large-scale orchid field cultivation, but the mud basin is relatively rough, not very beautiful, and should not be directly used for display and viewing. In addition, from an economic point of view, the mud basin is much more expensive than the soft plastic culture cup. The sand orchid basin fired by Xingjing in Sichuan has good water absorption and air permeability, but combined with peat soil and other plant materials often used locally, it is not easy to achieve the effect of quick drying and quick wetting in the basin.

The porcelain basin is the glaze basin, and the general porcelain basin is usually used as a set basin. Its appearance is beautiful, but the air permeability and filtration are poor, which is no different from the plastic flowerpot. Of course, in terms of consumption, it is also more expensive than plastic flowerpots. Recently, a kind of lightweight porcelain flowerpot on the market is calcined at low temperature, which has the characteristics of water absorption and air permeability, but the price is more expensive.

The purple sand basin is between the mud basin and the porcelain basin, with both advantages and disadvantages, but the price is more expensive, and it may be used by families who raise orchids and the number is small, such as the Chu Han mud basin produced in Yixing, Zhejiang.

A kind of black tile pot (also known as waist drum basin) is traditionally used in Dali, Jianchuan and Lijiang in western Yunnan. This kind of basin is loose, the wall is thin, there are many drainage holes in the bottom, the ratio of basin height to basin width is about 3:2, the mouth and bottom of the basin are small, and the waist of the basin is thickened. In this way, the regional capacity of root growth concentration increases, which is very suitable for the growth and development of orchids with strong roots, such as lotus petal orchid, light snow, big snow and so on. Its disadvantage is that the basin mouth is small, the ramet turning basin is not easy to operate, and the basin is generally larger, heavier after filling the soil, and it is more difficult to control moisture.

Plastic basin is a commonly used orchid container in recent years, it is light and cheap, easy to use, and is widely used in the south at present. Plastic basins do not absorb water, air permeability and heat dissipation are poor, but generally can be made up by means of high orchid basins, multi-cushion drainage materials and so on. Plastic pots are often equipped with breathable materials such as volcanic rocks and water moss as cultivation substrates for orchid cultivation. As long as the plant structure in the pot is reasonable, the plastic flowerpot can also achieve the effect of ventilation and ventilation. As far as the living environment of orchids in nature is concerned, orchids grow underground, and the effect of ventilation is not necessarily better than plastic pots. The problem is that the soil is relatively loose and drained smoothly, so it can flourish. A seedling orchid tens of thousands of yuan introduction, is also a kind of sample in the plastic basin, and the development is good.

There is no way to grow orchids. You can grow orchids with any kind of pots. There are two large potted orchids on the side of the window of the company where the author works. The pots are 40 centimeters in diameter. Originally, there were no holes in the bottom and edges of the porcelain basin, but only a small hole was punched at the bottom for drainage. The four orchids of the two pots have blossomed every year for the past four years and are growing well. To investigate the reason, one is that all the gold plants are used in the basin, and the other is that workers are required to water once every 10 to 15 days.

In short, Lanyou in the selection of flowerpots in addition to certain requirements for uniform management, what flowerpots do not have a big problem, the key is what plant materials are used and how to control moisture. Of course, there is another problem, that is, the size of the orchid pot must be combined with the strength of the seedlings. If the only seedling grass that is too weak must use a medium orchid pot, then it is recommended that two or three seedlings should be planted in one pot.
