Orchid planting: Mid-Autumn season to change pots (turn)

And fast to orchid Hui sub-plant change basin season, orchid friends busy set basin ingredients, anxious point has begun to succeed! I would like to express my personal views on the characteristics of cymbidium and the temperature of the Yangtze River Basin.

Cymbidium, also known as Xia Lan, blooms later than spring orchid, spring sword, lotus petal and other orchids. It blooms in early summer, blooms more than one month, germinates relatively late and grows to maturity. It takes more than two years or even three years from germination to completion of strong plants under extensive cultivation. This is because the natural strong state temperature gives it a short growth period. Usually, the germination temperature of Cymbidium is about 20 degrees Celsius, and at this time it is the flowering time, the nutrient consumption is large, the germination is relatively delayed, 25-33 degrees is the best temperature for the growth of Cymbidium, and its growth speed is amazing.

Now with the global warming, the Yangtze River Basin, especially Wuhan area frost has been delayed, simply Wuhan temperature to the appropriate growth time of the basic situation is, mid-April to mid-May most of the buds unearthed, of course, there are embankment or pile late phenomenon, temporarily not discussed... About one inch after the emergence of the bud, there is a slow growth process of nearly 20 days, which is mainly in the growth of roots. However, the temperature in Wuhan area can reach more than 33 ℃ in June, and the cymbidium enters a semi-dormant or dormant state, basically stopping the growth of seedlings. Therefore, it is normal for the new seedlings to grow about 3 inches in the same year from summer to early autumn. From the middle of autumn to the beginning of winter, there is a temperature of 20-30 ℃ in Wuhan area for more than a month, which is the best temperature for the growth of cymbidium. If the fertilizer and watering management are properly carried out, At this stage, the new seedlings can grow to about eight inches. If the plants are divided and the pots are changed at this time, it will waste this excellent growth time. Wouldn't it be a pity?

In view of this, I think that if there is no special situation, it is better not to move the pot in the mid-autumn season. After winter, Wuhan basically has a time of about 16 degrees for ten days. The cymbidium enters a semi-dormant slow period. I think it is best to divide the plants and change the pots at this time:

1. the time for proper temperature growth and long seedling growth is fully utilized;

Second, it can reduce the damage to the small seedlings;

third, a slightly lower temperature is conducive to restoring the basin;

4. The adaptation of new materials to orchid plants in winter is beneficial to the rapid growth of the seedlings in the second year.

This is purely a personal immature point of view, some differences are inevitable, please criticize friends pointed out......
