Optimization of scientific mixing of plant materials
Plant material is not only the material basis for the survival of orchids, but also one of the elements to promote many buds, vigorous roots and strong seedlings. The condition of plant material directly affects the survival, growth rate and quality of orchids. The good effect of orchid cultivation can be achieved only in the optimization of plant materials, scientific mixing, reasonable proportion and complementary advantages. Here are several different formulations which have been proved to be applicable to different orchids by the author's repeated experiments:
Formula 1: Lentinus edodes soil 70%, husk charcoal 20%, coarse river sand 10%, plus 10% bone charcoal (this formula is suitable for planting Cymbidium and Cymbidium).
Formula 2: 40% char, 30% Lentinus edodes soil, 10% red brick grains, 10% coarse river sand, 10% burning soil, plus 10% bone charcoal (this formula is suitable for planting cold orchids).
Formula 3: red brick grain 30%, coarse river sand 20%, husk charcoal 30%, Lentinus edodes soil 20%, plus a small amount of dried cow dung and bone charcoal (this formula is suitable for planting Jian Lan and Mulan).
Formula 4: 40% char, 20% Lentinus edodes soil, 10% red brick grains, 10% coarse river sand, 10% cinder, 10% dried cow dung (this formula is suitable for planting Yelan).
The various plant materials in the above formula have the advantages of easy acquisition, low cost and good effect. Lentinus edodes soil is loose and breathable, light and permeable, and the nutrients are moderate, which can make orchid buds and roots flourish. The husk contains a variety of ash elements and a large number of other trace elements. Mainly contains potassium, lifa root; bone charcoal is rich in phosphorus, fertilizer is not violent, fertilizer effect is long-lasting; cinder contains minerals; red brick particles have many pores, good drainage and water retention performance. As the bottom material of plant orchid, the author chooses foam block. This substance is light, breathable, impervious, odorous and can drive insects. With it at the bottom, the root tip of the orchid grows well and the germination rate is high. (Fujian-Longyan Zhang Bingfu)
