Zhejiang Gome Horticulture Co., Ltd. recently launched two new media-red jade soil and deer marsh soil. According to Lu Chien-hsiung, manager of Gome's International Department of Horticulture, Chiyu soil and deer marsh soil are imported from Japan and are products of Japan's volcanic areas. The volcanic mud made from the accumulation of free volcanic ash in red jade soil is yellow round particles and does not contain harmful bacteria; deer marsh soil comes from volcanic sand generated by the lower volcanic soil. Both of them have high permeability, micro-acidity, and the structure is beneficial to water retention and drainage. Medium-grained red jade soil (diameter 2 to 6.5 mm) is suitable for a variety of plant pot applications, can be described as "universal soil", at present, it is mainly used for the cultivation of succulent plants such as cactus. Fine-grained red jade soil (1 to 2 mm in diameter) can be used for lawn planting and horticultural plant breeding. When red jade soil is mixed with peat, coconut bran, bark, etc., the mixing ratio is 30%. Deer marsh soil is suitable for gas-repellent, damp-proof and barren plants, such as bonsai, orchids, alpine flowers and so on. Deer marsh soil can be used alone or mixed with peat, rotten leaf soil, red jade soil and other media. If it is used in the production of grass flowers and foliage plants; the mixed proportion is 30%, the mixed proportion is 50%, and the mixed proportion is 60%. The diameter of medium grain deer marsh is 2.5 to 18 mm, and the diameter of fine grain is 1 to 2.5 mm.

What do domestic users think of these imported cultivation media? Teng Liuhong, president of Shanghai Cactus succulent Plant Professional Committee, is a major grower of succulent plants with more than 30 years of production experience. He told reporters that he had used a lot of red jade. Compared with the cultivation of succulent plants by mixing red jade soil with bluestone and organic compound fertilizer, the root system of the former plant is better and the plant is stronger than that cultivated with soil or peat. Chen Wei, general manager of Xiamen Huijin Horticulture Co., Ltd., said that after using red jade soil, it is found that it has large gaps and good water permeability, and its biggest advantage is that moisture is well controlled in daily management, and the phenomenon of rotting roots due to too much water rarely occurs.
