EM can be used for orchid cultivation
EM (Effective Microorganisms) is the abbreviation of effective microorganism. It is a new type of microbial agent developed by Professor Bijiazhaofu in Japan. it is a multi-functional group formed by the compound culture of many kinds of effective microorganisms which are beneficial to human beings. it has shown a good role and effect in promoting the growth of animals and plants, enhancing disease resistance and improving the ecological environment, which has attracted wide attention. It is reported that 90% of orchid growers in Okinawa, Japan, use EM to raise orchids.
Over the past few years, the author raised dozens of pots of orchids on the balcony. Every late spring and autumn, orchid plants are either scorched tips, rotten scabbard, or black spots invade orchid leaves, affecting the ornamental value, and sometimes rotten roots and seedlings occur. In the summer of 1996, I was in the mood to try and use 0.1%EM liquid to irrigate and spray orchid pots, once a month, only three times. In the past few months, the new seedlings have grown gratifyingly, and black spot has not occurred so far. the leaf sheath of each orchid is intact, most of the leaf tips can pass through pinholes, and a few orchid seedlings have scorched tips. The root of Langen developed well, and the phenomenon of rotten root was not seen again. The orchid pots that did not use EM were treated with insecticidal drugs as in previous years, but black spots occurred in almost every leaf, and the leaf sheath turned yellow and dry. The growth of orchid plants treated with EM was significantly better than that of non-users. It can be seen that it is good to raise orchids with EM. (Sichuan-Chen Guangyou)
