Sunlight is essential for plants to carry out photosynthesis and is the energy source for producing nutrients. The photosynthesis of orchids is that the roots absorb nutrients and water from plants, the leaves absorb carbon dioxide from the air, and its chlorophyll absorbs sunlight (light energy), synthesizes carbohydrates in the body, and light energy is converted into chemical energy and gives off oxygen. This continuous cycle, so that the orchid plant development and growth, the growth of new plants, old plants are aging and death, metabolism, cycle, so that life extension and seed generation.

Orchid is a semi-shady plant, it loves the sun, but avoid exposure. From practice, it is found that the demand for light of orchids has a saturation point. After the light reaches the saturation point, better sunlight has no effect on orchids. According to the professional test, the light intensity of the well-growing orchid is 4000--5000Lux (lux, unit of light intensity), and its germination rate, flowering rate, leaf and leaf color are all good.

Sunlight is a collection of continuous bands of light from red to purple, which should also be used to simulate the growth environment of plants. Full-band artificial light is of course the best, but most artificial light sources can not meet this requirement. Plants are most likely to absorb red and blue light, and two and balanced red and blue light are especially important for photosynthesis. According to the experimental results, red light can promote the growth of orchids, while blue light is indispensable for thickening leaves, accelerating plant development and regulating stomatal opening. Green light can not be ignored, it can promote the growth of oxygen, thus helping orchids better accumulate nutrients. In addition, a certain intensity of long-wave ultraviolet is also essential, which can help form anthocyanins and inhibit the elongation of branches and leaves.
