In urban family orchid cultivation, many orchid lovers use balconies and roofs as orchid cultivation sites, with a small area. After collecting a certain number of downhill orchids or adding new varieties, they are often limited by the site and unable to expand the cultivation capacity. as a result, many favorite varieties can not be planted and introduced, or the number of original varieties increases after cultivation and reproduction, and the original number of flowerpots cannot be accommodated. The author tried to use the box intensive cultivation method to cultivate orchids and achieved satisfactory results. The same area utilization rate can be increased by 3 times with this method. About 30 000 orchids are planted on the author's more than 20 square balconies and grow well, while a few thousand orchids can be planted in pot plants at most. The reason is that the flowerpots are round, the top and bottom are small, and the space is large.

The method of box planting is to use plastic box (the author uses pesticide calcium plastic packing box. The specification is (43x34xZdem), which has the advantages of light weight, non-decay, drilling holes on the four sides and bottom of the lower layer to facilitate drainage, the lower cushion drains coarse-grained materials 5 cm thick, and the upper layer is covered with decaying soil or other planting materials suitable for orchid growth. According to the size of orchid plants, they are planted at a certain row spacing, and it is appropriate not to be too dense. Take Chunlan and Chunjian as an example: the seedlings can be worth about 200plants per box, and the adult plants can be planted with 100ml 150 seedlings. After planting, under the cushion brick, so that the bottom above 20 cm from the ground, neat discharge, can also be set up, three-dimensional placement, ventilation and light transmission is appropriate. In order to avoid the spread of diseases and insect pests due to high density, fungicides or insecticides should be sprayed regularly. Chlorothalonil, methyl thiophanate, carbendazim, omethoate, enemy killing and other alternative sprays can be used.

Box intensive cultivation is suitable for domestication and variety selection of downhill orchids. High-grade fine orchids should still be potted in order to facilitate management and appreciation.
