Bacterial flower rot
Distribution: worldwide.
Pathogens: pseudomonas (Pseudomonas aeruginosa), fluorescent pseudomonas (Pseudomonas florescens).
Host: mainly cultivated varieties of Cartland (Cattleya) and Cymbidium (Paphiopedilum).
Symptoms: rotten spots appear on the flowers, including some small, necrotic spots with watery halos. It may first infect the soil, then the roots and stems, causing necrosis and decay, including buds and flowers.
Prevention and treatment: Pseudomonas is a dead parasitic, but it can also infect tissues that have been destroyed, so it is necessary to change the culture soil or strictly disinfect it. The second is to cut off the infected part and soak the infected plants with 0.1% potassium permanganate solution. The soil can be sterilized at high temperature. Secondly, spraying 200mg/L agricultural streptomycin and 0.5% Bordeaux solution also has a certain effect. (Chen Xinqi, Ji Zhanhe)
