Points for attention in proper daylighting for raising orchids on the balcony
Orchids need sunlight for photosynthesis, produce nutrients and promote the development and growth of leaf buds and flower buds, so light is essential for orchids. After comparative experiments, I found that several pots of orchids placed in the dark corner facing north for a long time had poor root growth, weak resistance, easy to die of disease, and not easy to blossom. If you put it to the south of Xiangyang, the orchid plant will grow strong and blossom easily. Therefore, it is necessary to make full use of light to promote the healthy growth of orchid seedlings. Especially in winter, it is necessary to give full play to the heating role of sunlight, which is beneficial to the cold resistance of orchids.
Although orchids need proper light, orchids are semi-negative plants and cannot be exposed to direct sunlight in hot seasons. Therefore, in order to do a good job of shading and sunscreen, lianas can be planted to block the scorching sun, or one or two layers of black shading net or bamboo curtain can be used to adjust the light to turn the direct sun into scattered light to avoid burning orchid leaves and affecting growth.
