Inflorescences corymbose, inflorescence rachis drawn from leaf axils, 7-16 cm high, bifurcated from the upper part; spikes usually composed of 5-11 spikelets; spikelets containing 2-4 flowers; outer bract ca. 2-2.5 mm long, broadly ovate, apex acute, first inner bract ca. 5 mm, broadly elliptic, apex rounded. Calyx ca. 5 mm, funnelform, tube hairy along veins, calyx eaves white, usually folded and slightly open, lobes pointed triangular, proximally hairy along veins, Corolla purplish red.

Dwarf subshrubs; old branches dark brown, densely covered with residual petiole base; whole plant (except calyx) glabrous.
