Mr. Zhao Guang of Lanyou talked about the problem of inducing multiple seedlings and rooting of national orchid. With regard to the current level of science and technology, the problem is not difficult to solve. Professor Zou Qi and Professor Gao Huiyuan, former presidents of Shandong Agricultural University, cooperated with Yuanxin Orchid Yuan to treat Cymbidium with a-naphthylacetic acid to induce its rooting and achieved good results.

Plant growth substances can be divided into plant hormones (plant synthesis) and plant growth regulators (synthetic substances with plant hormone activity). Plant hormones can be divided into five categories: 1. Auxins, 2. Gibberellins, 3. Cytokinins, 4. Ethylene, 5. Abscisic acid.

Auxins

The British CharllesDarwin was discovered in 1880. It has been proved that indole acetic acid is the most common in bacteria, fungi, algae, ferns and seed plants. Higher plants are widely distributed in roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds and coleoptiles, mainly in the parts of exuberant growth. Its main function is to promote wound healing and adventitious root formation. At present, it is mainly used to induce the rooting of cuttings. Among them, synthetic a-naphthylacetic acid (NAA) and indolebutyric acid (IBA) are the most widely used. The former has short action time and induces less, thick and short roots, while the latter has a long action time and induces more, thin and long roots. The combination of the two is the most ideal.

Cytokinins

There are more than 20 kinds of cytokinins in plants and microorganisms, including zeatin extracted from immature seeds of sweet corn for the first time in 1967, and zeatin nucleoside, dihydrozeatin and isopentenyl adenosine. Cytokinins in higher plants mainly exist in the parts where cells divide, such as stem tips, root tips, immature seeds, germinating seeds and growing fruits. A large number of kinetin derivatives have been synthesized according to the structure of kinetin, which can promote cell division, such as kinetin, 6-benzyl gland fat, tetrahydro-benzyl gland, diphenylurea and so on. Its main function is to promote cell division and bud growth of aboveground parts.

At present, 6-benzyladenine (6-BA) and kinetin are mostly used in tissue culture. If it is used to induce multiple seedlings of Cymbidium, experiments should be carried out to select the appropriate species, concentration and application method.
