Application skills of "Lime" in Orchid cultivation and Management
Yesterday I talked about the use of "plant ash" carbonized alkaline leaching solution to neutralize the acidity in the matrix, so as to achieve a purposeful preventive effect. Today, I would like to talk about the skills of "lime" in orchid cultivation and management, hoping to give orchid friends a double choice in the hot and humid plum rain season. We know that "lime" plays an important role in the prevention and control of crop diseases, such as: "lime" and "sulfur" are neutralized into the well-known "stone-sulfur mixture" (stone-sulfur mixture is widely used in forest and fruit cultivation. Every agricultural technical station has a ready sale), and "copper sulfate" into the famous "Bordeaux liquid" (first of all, two solids of water need to be decomposed into liquids before procedural blending). There are professional instructions for the production and use of the above two preparations, which will not be introduced here. However, there is a note that "Bordeaux liquid" has been applied in orchid cultivation, and the effect of information feedback is remarkable. Here refers to the use of large-scale cultivation, small areas do not need to be so, because "Bordeaux liquid" is used with, and the requirements in the preparation process is very strict. Therefore, it is not applicable to orchid enthusiasts who cultivate small areas, so there is no need to discuss it in detail.
In addition, the adjustment of "lime" to dilute paste is also of great significance in the protection of trees in winter. Powdered "lime" is also widely used in large-scale sterilization (in this case, environmental sterilization). For example, it is widely used in the environmental sterilization of H5 avian influenza virus this spring.
It is well known that "lime" is a strongly alkaline medium, which can quickly suppress and kill fungi that like to live in an acidic environment, with less side effects and less residue, which is also the main factor widely used in crop prevention. Do not know that "lime" in the use of sterilization is not careless. What I am talking about is the scientific application of "lime" in orchid cultivation and management.
I. the choice of "lime"
First of all, we should choose high-quality "lime". The selection of high-quality "lime" should start from the following two aspects:
1. Visual inspection: through visual inspection, we can see that the large pieces with a white or yellowish appearance without weathering are high-quality "limestone".
2. Feel: this is very important in the selection of high-quality "lime blocks". The "lime blocks" feel as light in the hand as possible (compared with other "lime blocks" of the same size). Those with light weight have high combustion purity. On the contrary, the heavy ones do not burn fully in the combustion process, so the content of impurities is higher, which is not desirable.
II. Production and use of "Lime" clarifying solution
1. First of all, the high-quality "lime block" should be soaked or leached into powder form with water, and then the pure "lime powder" should be mixed into an aqueous solution at 1:10 times (the "lime powder" that has just been watered off should not be taken in a hurry, for the sake of safety, it should be taken out after natural cooling for the sake of safety). After soaking for about 12 hours, the clarifier can be carefully removed. Note that when taking the clarifier, the surface layer of the clarifier will solidify a layer of "crystal" like thin ice. This "crystal" like thin ice is the crystal of a high-purity alkali substance and is considered undesirable. In addition, this "crystal" in the back of the water is not easy to dissolve, once into the tender tissue of the leaf heart will produce drug damage, and easy to block the spray hole, so abandon it.
2. The original liquid of "lime" clarification is mixed with water agent 2000 times. In the hot and humid plum rain season, the "land-air combination" is adopted to first irrigate the matrix of the whole basin, and then spray the whole orchid chamber and orchid field to fully cover it, so as to suppress or kill the bacteria that live in the acidic environment in a large area. In this way, using twice at intervals in the hot and humid plum rain season will effectively control the occurrence of "stem rot, soft rot and white silk disease".
Attachment: Dalan field generally uses sprinkling powdered "lime" on the ground, so as to block the pathogens on the surface, but this operation is highly polluting, "flying dust" during operation, and it is easy to pollute orchid leaves to cause damage to orchid leaves, so it is not desirable.
Note: 1. "Lime" clarifying liquid water solvent is pure alkaline, so it can not be mixed with any acidic pesticides or chemical fertilizers or organic fertilizers.
Note: 2. "Lime" clarifying liquid water solvent contains high alkali purity, make sure it is more than 2000 times when mixing with water, and there is no follow-up with a little more water, please do not reduce the amount of water at will.
Note: 3. This agent is only effective for fungi that like to survive in an acidic environment, and the purpose is to "give priority to prevention". As mentioned above is for reference only, interested Lanyou do not visit to practice again (personal experience is also a wonderful thing).
Solemnly declare: this "lime" leaching liquid is not a panacea, let alone long-term dependent use, please use alternately in cultivation management. In order to reduce the drug resistance of fungi and the possibility of alkaline transformation of culture medium. (Wan Yunkun)
