Why is the grafting technology of sweet-scented osmanthus grafting?
Osmanthus flowers in China, it is a long-standing ten famous flowers, and in their own courtyard planted osmanthus, from afar, you can smell that kind of fragrance, then some flower friends asked, why to give osmanthus grafting, then tell everyone why and how to graft.
1. grafting reason
If ordinary sowing methods are used for sowing, it takes 8 to 10 years to successfully cultivate an adult osmanthus, and the maintenance and management time will be relatively long. Now grafting technology has been relatively mature, the osmanthus produced by grafting, fragrance will also be relatively long, so we usually choose to use grafting technology.
2. Selection of Grafting Rootstock
Before cultivating an osmanthus flower, the rootstock needed for grafting must be selected. In the north, the weather is colder, and most of the rootstocks selected are Ligustrum lucidum. Small wax, water wax, etc. are useful.
3. grafting methods
First of all, after selecting the rootstock, you can use a U-shaped knife to dig out a U-shaped groove. The length can be 2.5 cm to 3 cm, and the depth can be half of the scion diameter. After making it, you can start the next operation.
Next, use a scion to take 2 buds and 2 1/2 leaves. Before using it, cut the lower end of the scion at a 45-degree angle, preferably into a circular arc. Then peel off half the diameter of the scion.
The next step is to insert the scion into the groove of the rootstock. At this time, it can be found that the two sides of the scion are just aligned with the cambium on both sides of the rootstock. Moreover, when we develop the groove, it is best to make the groove equal to the scion size as much as possible, which can greatly improve the survival rate of the scion.
When we choose rootstock, if we choose a relatively large rootstock, we can insert several scions at this time, not only can osmanthus survive, but also can be used as bonsai. Suggestion, it is best to take two scions, not too much, not too little, and in the grafting time, according to the shape of the stump to graft.
When we scion, choose to graft branches, it is best to choose strong branches, buds are more full, so that the survival rate can be improved when grafting. If you want to see if the grafting is successful, you can rely on watching whether the scion will fall off the rootstock.
Another technique was to wrap a black tape around the rootstock after grafting. In this way, the survival rate of the scion after grafting would be greatly improved.
