Four look at watering orchids
Some orchids like to ask such a question, "it is appropriate for orchids to be watered more than once." This question cannot be answered simply. Because watering orchids is a meticulous job. In ancient times, there is a saying that dry orchid and wet chrysanthemum, but not the more dry the better. Plants need water to grow, and orchids are no exception.
To grow orchids well, plant material is the foundation, environment is the condition, and watering is the key. Watering orchids is both simple and not simple, we must carefully observe orchid seedlings, diligently check the basin soil, pay attention to seasonal climate changes, and so on. It depends on the specific situation. What are you looking at?
First, spring plant material: the family raises orchid, the general plant material is not one-time preparation. Due to the use of different plant materials, its stagnant water is very different, the humidity is different. Large particles of non-absorbent plant material, as soon as the basin surface is watered, the basin bottom will flow away, this kind of plant material should be watered more frequently. If you use pond cement or humus to plant soil, its stagnation is good, and you can pour it for more than a few days at a time. If you use immortal soil, its stagnation is not as good as humus. It depends on the thickness of the plant and its stagnant water.
Second, the spring orchid basin: the texture of the orchid basin is different, its water retention is very different. Such as the glazed sand pottery basin, the water permeability is very good, it should be watered frequently. The water permeability of purple sand basin is worse, but it is better than porcelain orchid basin. If you use porcelain orchid basin or plastic orchid basin, you should water less. Secondly, it also depends on the size of the orchid basin, the large orchid basin moisturizes for a long time, and the small orchid basin dries quickly, so the number of watering times is not the same.
Third, spring climate: due to different seasons, the temperature changes greatly, so the amount of orchid watering is also different. When orchids begin to sprout in spring, they should be watered step by step. If there is not enough water, it will affect the germination of new buds. However, just after winter, it is not appropriate to suddenly increase the amount of water, it should be increased gradually. In summer, the climate is hot, the temperature rises, the evaporation of orchid seedlings is large, and the basin soil dries quickly, which should be watered frequently. When Yilan seedlings grow in autumn, it is also necessary to ensure moisture. However, July and August are the critical period for flower bud formation, so water should be properly controlled, otherwise there are more leaf buds and fewer flower buds. The frequency of watering should be gradually reduced in winter, and water should not be watered if the temperature is below five degrees. The climate disparity between the north and the south of our country is quite large, which should be looked at concretely. No matter what season, but also depends on sunny, cloudy, rainy and snowy days, different climates, specific treatment. "Ling Hai Lan Yan" puts forward "six should be exempted, four should be increased, and five should be reduced". Although it refers to the Lingnan area of Guangdong, it can also be used for reference.
4. Spring orchid seedlings: if Nanduo is growing vigorously, it should be watered frequently; if the seedlings are small and weak, they should be watered less, and the diseased seedlings should also be watered less. Don't water it before turning it. Secondly, depending on the habits of the varieties, different orchids also need different kinds of water. For example, Cymbidium and Huilan require more humidity; Chunlan and Huilan require relatively less humidity; and Tailan is semi-epiphytic orchid, so it can be watered less.
Orchids are watered by spraying, irrigation and soaking. If the air temperature is high and the air is dry, spray deep into the leaves in order to cool and increase humidity on a sunny day; if you do not need to increase humidity, you can directly irrigate the basin soil with a kettle; if you are on a business trip or something, watering the basin soil for a long time, the basin soil is too dry, you need to use immersion method. Soak the orchid basin slowly in the water basin, but observe it at any time. As long as the meter is wet, take it out immediately and should not be soaked for a long time. As long as the dry plant material is watered, it flows away, which seems to be thoroughly watered, but in fact, the plant material in the basin is still dry and is not easy to absorb enough water. As for the specific time of watering, it can be done every morning and evening. Judging from the time when the plant evaporates water, it is best to water it in the morning. Watering in the morning can also control the growth and height of orchid leaves.
In short, do not dry do not water, water will be suitable, do not pour half of the water. The basin soil should be dry but not dry, moist but not wet.
