Among the academic terms, the terms of water quality can be divided into neutral, acidic, alkaline, hard water and soft water, while what we actually use in raising orchids is tap water, river water, spring water, Rain Water and groundwater. The author has often heard that this kind of water can be used, that kind of water can not be watered, and what kind of water must be treated in this way before it can be used. This is similar to the theory of water quality laboratory experts, and it is not easy for ordinary generalists to understand.

Cultivate the national orchid to study carefully, analyze and test the most ideal water with scientific methods, and its research spirit is indeed honorable! However, apart from the scientific experts who are engaged in the academic research of orchids, those who are generally interested in raising orchids do not seem to need to do anything. Why? If we all have to use scientific methods to test what kind of water quality we have to find out, and if we have to go through special methods to deal with it, will it not force the people who raise orchids to become experts in water quality testing, and in the process of scientific testing and treatment, it is inevitable that they will become self-defeating because of the effectiveness of the East? And the water quality problem is both standing and wonderful, which makes people measure deeply, and it makes many interesting newcomers flinch from difficulties, always linger outside the orchid boundary, and will never get the benefits of the orchid.

But what kind of water should we use? The author can tell you exactly a standard of water, that is, the water that we human beings can drink is suitable for raising poultry and livestock at home, or for cultivating crops, and other flowers and plants can develop normally. There is no doubt that it can be used to raise orchids, no matter it belongs to any category in scientific terms, no matter where its water source comes from, everyone can rest assured to use it.

The author wrote to abide by the above-mentioned water standards. During more than two years of living in Changhua village, I have always used groundwater pumped from underground rooftop towers. After moving to Taipei, after more than two years, all tap water from Taipei City has been irrigated with untreated tap water. After more than 10 years, strong new buds have proliferated year after year, more than twice or twice as much as the original plant, and the training results are very satisfactory. The result of this training has been seen by many orchid friends in the house, and the facts can be proved by everything. Therefore, the author thinks that those who are interested in raising orchids do not have to worry about the problem of water quality. (Wu Anlu)
