Toothed glossy ring spot disease
Distribution: worldwide.
Pathogen: orchid ringspot virus (ORSV) [tobacco mosaic virus orchid virus (TMV-O)].
Hosts: Arundina, Calanthe, Cartland, Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Odontoglossum, Phauys, Oncidium, Vanda, Vanilla and so on.
Symptoms: infected leaves. The necrotic tissue of the leaves is a concentric circle, or there is a green area between them. Circles can be combined into various shapes. The symptoms are obvious in the early stage of infection, which can make the leaves fall off, but it is not obvious later, but it still carries the virus.
Prevention and treatment: the control of virus disease is mainly to remove diseased plants, improve environmental hygiene, disinfect appliances and other methods, in order to prevent its spread. At present, it is internationally recognized that the better disinfectants are: 1,2% formalin and% sodium hydroxide aqueous solution (which can no longer be used after turning green); 2, 164g anhydrous or 377g sodium phosphate (Na3PO4) with 1L water (1000cc). Can be used for disinfection tools, environment, etc.
Note: the disease is widely distributed, including many strains, and the symptoms of orchids are also different. In national orchids, it can be characterized by wilting mosaic disease (Faintmosaic), yellow stripe necrosis (Chlorotic streak) or diamond mottle disease (Diamondmottle); in Cartland, it harms flowers and causes flower broken color disease (Flower break).
