The so-called wet orchid cultivation means that the orchid leaves, orchid balls and orchid roots often maintain sufficient humidity. Whenever you observe the orchid root, it is always wet. The method of operation is: spray water to the leaves once every morning, noon and evening, and increase it again in the evening in midsummer (about 22:00). This is because the air in the north is dry, the orchid cultivation site is open to the outside world, and the orchid seedlings are easy to dry. This method of water supply should pay attention to: can not let the orchid seedling have the feeling of "thirst", to ensure that the timely supply of water, the technique is a spray to the end, the bottom of the basin there is water seepage. When spraying water, it is like rain, "right in the face". The author has adopted the wet method to raise orchids for several years, that is, there is no harm to the buds, and there is no phenomenon that the new buds rot and die.

The first condition of wet orchid cultivation is that the matrix must be granular (such as charcoal, bark, etc.), both permeable and breathable, so that the replacement rate of air and water is extremely high, and there will be no stagnant water. The wet culture method can not be used with traditional humus soil (orchid mud, etc.). This may be the origin of "dry orchid and wet chrysanthemum".

It should be noted that wet orchid cultivation, in order to try to simulate the natural ecological environment, there must be adequate supply of water and fertilizer in the growing season, but it must not cause stagnant water in the basin. This is very important. In addition, it should be mentioned that wet orchid cultivation should not use organic fertilizer as far as possible, but should use inorganic fertilizer. Because the amount of chemical fertilizer is small, it can be adjusted freely according to the growth of orchid seedlings, irrigating roots and spraying leaves, and can be mastered by orchid farmers at will.

The author uses wet method to raise orchid, and the effect is remarkable. Take Jianlan as an example, when buying orchid seedlings from the south, most of them have 2 to 3 leaves per seedling. After wet culture, the new plants with 3 leaves were less, and most of them were 4 to 5 leaves. The leaves are wide and thick, oil-green and bright, and some new buds have reached more than 30 centimeters in length in May. The new buds are many and strong, the orchid seedlings are lush and lush, and they bloom every year, and the flowers can come out of the shelves with rich fragrance. Some strong seedlings can sprout 3 to 4 buds, which is very gratifying. (Jin Weng)
