Morphological characteristics of cyclamen

Cyclamen is a bulbous flower, the tuber is oblate, usually about 4-5 cm in diameter, with corky epidermis, brown, slightly flattened at the top, leaves and scape drawn from the top of the tuber at the same time.

Petiole ca. 5-18 cm; leaf blade ovoid, heart-shaped, 3-14 cm in diameter, apex slightly acute, margin crenulate, thick, dark green above, often with light markings.

Its scape is ca. 15-20cm high and does not curl when fruiting; calyx usually divides to reach base, lobes triangular or oblong-triangular, entire; Corolla white or rose-red, throat dark purple, tube subhemispherical, lobes oblong-lanceolate, slightly acute, base auriculate, 3.5-5 times longer than tube, sharply reflexed.

Cyclamen growth habit

Cyclamen likes warmth, is afraid of heat, is more hardy, and can withstand a low temperature of 0 ℃ without freezing. It grows best in a cool environment and in a rich sandy loam rich in humus.

The growing season is from September to February and is semi-dormant in summer. The most suitable temperature for growth in winter is 12: 16 ℃, and the temperature is controlled at 18: 22 ℃ to promote flowering. When the temperature is lower than 5 ℃, the plant grows slowly and the flower color is dim.

Cyclamen flower language

The flower language of cyclamen is introverted. Cyclamen used to be mostly wild, cultivated in the greenhouse although beautiful, but the vitality is fragile, so its flower language is introverted.
