Morphological characteristics of Cymbidium

Cymbidium terrestrial herbs; with inconspicuous pseudobulbs. There are 5-8 leaves, belt-shaped, upright, about 25-80 cm long, 7-12 mm width, neither often folded V-shaped, veins are more transparent, the edge is often coarsely serrated.

The scape of Cymbidium is drawn from the outermost axils of the leaves, directly suberect or slightly curved outward, ca. 35-50 cm long, covered with many long sheaths; racemes with 5-11 or more flowers.

The bract is linear-lanceolate, the lowermost one is longer than the ovary, the middle and upper part is about 1-2 cm long, the pedicel and ovary are about 2-3 cm long, and the flowers are often yellowish green. The labial flap has a burrowing red spot and has a certain aroma.

The capsule of Cymbidium is nearly narrowly elliptic in shape, about 5-5.5 cm long and about 2 cm wide, flowering from March to May.
