Phyllostachys pubescens has dense clusters of plants, short stems and beautiful branches and leaves, which can absorb formaldehyde and purify the air. It is often used in potted plants, decorated with small courtyards and rooms, and also used to make bonsai or as a low hedge material. It is cultivated in Japan and India all over the south of the Yangtze River in China.

Growth habits of Phyllostachys pubescens

Phyllostachys pubescens grows in warm and humid environment, not cold-resistant, not resistant to strong light exposure, afraid of stagnant water, suitable for the growth of loose, fertile and well-drained loam, the indoor temperature in winter should not be lower than 0 ℃.

Its plant type is short, the green leaves are fine and whirling, and its charm is unrestrained, like a Phoenix tail. The branch is slender, and the upper end of the bamboo pole is thin because of its luxuriant branches and leaves.

The branches are dense, slender and curved. Leaves small, about 3cm long, often 20 arranged on both sides of the branches, like pinnate. Bamboo stalks and branches that are solid or nearly solid are called "Guanyin bamboo", while hollow ones are called "Phoenix tail bamboo".
